Snoopers can't find or access the files you hide using Folder Lock, even in DOS or under other operating systems. This application provides two levels of protection: you can merely lock files and folders, or you can encrypt them using the 256-bit Blowfish algorithm. When you boot up the program, it'll ask you for a master password. Hitting the Browse link locates and lock folders anywhere on your computer, or you can simply secure them via the context menu. Encryption is limited in the free version to 25 MB.
Although the too-cute-for-words interface doesn't make them easy to find, Folder Lock does have a treasure trove of Advanced features, accessible after you hit the Options button. You can set files to be shredded, force the computer to shut down after failed entry attempts, erase document history, the clipboard and more, and enter into Stealth mode, which hides the app's presence on your computer.
The interface, which includes simple animations for no reason other than to "entertain" you, would be better served by a more standard layout that makes options readily and easily available. No doubt to excite your inner lock-breaking child, the octagonal purplish blue layout is supplemented with three more skins when you purchase the full version.
In our tests, the program demonstrated good speed, even when securing large folders. If you share a PC and need to keep certain files to yourself, you should definitely give Folder Lock a try.

These Lockers are undeletable on the computer where Folder Lock is installed. You can create as many Lockers as you want. With Folder Lock, you can choose either to encrypt using 256-bit AES on-the-fly encryption or lock files, folders and drives anywhere on your computer. Each Locker can contain your encrypted files as well as your personal list of locked items.

Version: Folder Lock 6.1.7
Pros: I liked version 5. When I bought it it was supposed to be supported for life. Its no longer available and it un supported.
Cons: Bad system crashes. Had to reboot from safe mode to remove. Version 6.2 4 is the worst !
Summary: Folderlock reps had me download diagnostic software. They can't seem to figure out why it wont work on my system. They wont give you a refund either. Ive owned this software for more than four months and its never worked. Shady company. Buyer beware... read more >>

"I don't need to lock my notebook."
Pros: Folder Lock has made many of my problem solved, it a comprehensive security tool for my note book.
Cons: I've faced some problems with the older version but as i am perennial user and a registered one, the vendor and the customer support helped me a lot and solved my issue.

"The Good The Bad and The Ugly"
Pros: Easy to use interface is an good file locker
Cons: The Encryption is useless. Beyond the strength of your password to enter the locker cause once u are in you can look at he files encryped or not. So you had best make sure your pasword is strong, because it is escentially the encryption key.
Summary: Good file locker encryption on this product is useless.

"I have been making use of Folder Lock for a year."
Pros: The program is quick and easy to use. It will lock the important files on my mini laptop that I carry with me all the time. This is important to me.
Cons: There is nothing that comes to mind about negatives for this program. Just do not forget your password!
Summary: Will continue to make use of this program on all my computers for several files. There is always important documents that need to have double security.
