Snoopers can't find or access the files you hide using Folder Lock, even in DOS or under other operating systems. This application also erases your Recent Documents history, so intruders don't know what to search for. The attractive lock-like interface simply presents the program functions. You can click the Browse link to locate and lock folders anywhere on your computer, or you can simply secure them via a right click. You also have the option to shred files for permanent removal, monitor hackers who try to break in to your secured files (and shut down the computer after three wrong passwords), and enable stealth mode so would-be wrongdoers can't even see the folders you have locked. In our tests, the program demonstrated good speed, even when securing large folders. If you share a PC and need to keep certain files to yourself, you should definitely give Folder Lock a try.Publisher's description
From New Softwares :Folder Lock is fast file-security software that can password-protect, lock, hide, and encrypt any number of files, folders, drives, pictures, and documents in seconds. Locked files are undeletable, unrenamable, unmovable, hidden, and inaccessible. You can lock, scramble, or encrypt depending on speed and security. Folder Lock is fully portable, so you can protect your files on USB flash drives, disks, CD-RWs, notebooks, and hard disks, and it doesn't require installation on another PC.
Folder Lock protects files in Windows, DOS, and Safe modes, even when you change your OS or boot from a disk. Folder Lock doesn't let you delete its own program folder, and it can't be uninstalled without the correct password. Additional options include Stealth Mode, Hacker Attempt Monitoring, Shred files, AutoLock, Auto Shutdown PC, Lock your PC, Erase PC tracks, 256-bit Blowfish Encryption and Context Menu in Explorer. Version 5.6.3 works faster on slow USB Drives, adds new animated tips, and supports memory cards like SD Cards.

"This program will crash your computer"
Pros: Pros? there is nothing pro about this thing, it's junk.
Cons: I wish CNET would give us a 0 star rating system to rate this stupid software a 0, because this damn thing crashed my new laptop to where I couldn't even get into windows, luckily me being a computer technician I was able to somehow get into safe mode and delete the thing. Whatever you do don't install this onto your system because it will crash your computer and could quite possibly not make it accessible at all , luckily I was able to get in before it locked everything out. THIS PROGRAM SUCKS!

Version: Folder Lock 5.6.3
Pros: &^@%&@%&@^
Cons: I wish to god I could give this damn thing a damn negative 5 stars. First off why would you pay $35.00 when you can get TrueCrypt free and will remain free. That uses aes to encrypt data. All a person will have to do is use a recovery program to get the data back your program just locked. And then on top of all of that, your program decrypts the data back on the hard drive. Now how is that safe. data should never be decrypted back to the hard drive. Only in ram.

"Read more reviews! I got scammed."
Pros: Looks nice. There are rumors going around that they'll pay you to post a good review.
Cons: Doesn't do what it claims. Read other reviews. Files are not encrypted - plug them into linux or even a Mac and they are accessable. Not only that, after I had been using the program for around a year, it randomly erased all my files, leaving the directory structure in tact. They sent me a recovery tool that didn't work. I asked again for help, and their reply is below:
Please try using a file recovery tool. Your files can be recovered by using a special file recovery tool called "PC Inspector File Recovery"
To download this software, click [link] or go to [link to pc inspector] and then download it. Then install and run the software, click the drive button on the top and then browse the Folder Lock directory i.e by default C:\Program Files\Folder Lock
When you'll browse this directory using this file recovery tool, you'll see a folder called nÃ?Â?Ã?Â?Ã?Â?Ã?Â?Ã?Â?Ã?Â?Ã?Â?Ã?Â??+Ã?Â?Ã?Â?Ã?Â?Ã?Â?Ã?Â?Ã?Â?Ã?Â?Ã?Â??-n or folders called Locked, Encrypted or Scrambled. These folders may contain nÃ?Â?Ã?Â?Ã?Â?Ã?Â?Ã?Â?Ã?Â?Ã?Â?Ã?Â??+Ã?Â?Ã?Â?Ã?Â?Ã?Â?Ã?Â?Ã?Â?Ã?Â?Ã?Â??-n folder, this is where your locked files are. Click this folder to view its content and then copy/paste these files to another location on your hard disk.
If this doesn't help, then see the deleted section in the recovery software, and browse the same folder from there, and you will surely find your files in the deleted section if you used Encrypt or Scramble options.
If you have two operating systems installed, like Windows 98 and Windows XP then you can boot your computer in Windows 98 and install PC Inspector File Recovery software in that system and then recover the files in the Folder Lock location. If you do not have two operating systems and the recovery software can't work on Windows XP, then please go to [google's url] and search for "file recovery software" and download another file recovery software to recover your files.
Please let me know if I can do anything for you,
Have a great day!

Needless to say, I did NOT have a good day.

Version: Folder Lock 5.6.3
Cons: Why are the negative reviews on this program always removed? Do they just re-list the new version of the program so no-one sees the old reviews? This program is junk!!! Stay away from it. The company lies and cheats. The software looks like it works but it doesn't!!! I've made lengthy reviews explaining everything in detail. And when I look again, all the old reviews have been erased. I can't believe people haven't cracked down on this program yet. If you want to secure your files look elsewhere. This program does not work. Period. I wish I could somehow contact the download.com editors about this program and have it removed. Or at least have them re-consider their five-star rating! >.<

"Complete garbage, Instant crash!"
Pros: Absolutely nothing. It crashed upon installation.
Cons: What can I say? I installed the program only to have my PC crash. Upon reboot, another crash and then another. I only managed to resurrect my machine by uninstalling this piece of crap through safe mode. This is without a doubt, the worst program I have ever downloaded (I never even got to see the launch screen). It will shut down your machine. Avoid it like the plague. P.S.. A "sticky" should be put beside this download link: Safe mode = F8 If you download this, you're going to need it.
