Snoopers can't find or access the files you hide using Folder Lock, even in DOS or under other operating systems. This application also erases your Recent Documents history, so intruders don't know what to search for. The attractive lock-like interface simply presents the program functions. You can click the Browse link to locate and lock folders anywhere on your computer, or you can simply secure them via a right click. You also have the option to shred files for permanent removal, monitor hackers who try to break in to your secured files (and shut down the computer after three wrong passwords), and enable stealth mode so would-be wrongdoers can't even see the folders you have locked. In our tests, the program demonstrated good speed, even when securing large folders. If you share a PC and need to keep certain files to yourself, you should definitely give Folder Lock a try.Publisher's description
From NewSoftwares.net :Folder Lock is fast file-security software that can password-protect, lock, hide, and encrypt any number of files, folders, drives, pictures, and documents in seconds. Locked files are undeletable, unrenamable, unmovable, hidden, and inaccessible. You can lock, scramble, or encrypt depending on speed and security. Folder Lock is fully portable, so you can protect your files on USB flash drives, disks, CD-RWs, notebooks, and hard disks, and it doesn't require installation on another PC. Folder Lock protects files in Windows, DOS, and Safe modes, even when you change your OS or boot from a disk. Folder Lock doesn't let you delete its own program folder, and it can't be uninstalled without the correct password. Additional options include Stealth Mode, Hacker Attempt Monitoring, Shred files, AutoLock, Auto Shutdown PC, Lock your PC, Erase PC tracks, 256-bit Blowfish Encryption and Context Menu in Explorer.
Version 5.6 enhanced support for all kinds of external drives and hard drives.

Version: Folder Lock 5.6
Pros: This program looks pretty and easy to use.
Cons: It is not actually very secure, and does not lock folders, it just hides them. This means there is a whole host of ways to access them still (either through Linux, or even via specialist folder browsing software on Windows). This is especially a bad point as it costs allot (maybe as freeware it would be suitable for kids or hiding stuff from inexperienced users). If you want to lock folders, use BCArcive as this actually encrypts your files safely.

Version: Folder Lock 5.6
"Version 5.6 is still broken, easy access to your hidden files."
Pros: The program sports nice colors.
Cons: Version 5.6 is almost as broken as version 5.56 and both versions STILL allow easy unauthorized access to your supposedly hidden, locked and encrypted files on an external USB device. [Here's how to test for the problem]:
1)Install Folder Lock normally onto your computer and using the Folder Lock "browse" interface, install the program again onto a USB device.(this is the approved way to get Folder lock onto a USB device)
2)Start Folder Lock "from" the USB device. (this is the normal way to run Folder Lock from a USB device) and put something into the "Locker" folder and lock it or encrypt it.
3)Remove USB device as you normally would and Plug USB device into a computer that "does not" have Folder Lock installed.
4)Using Windows explorer you will not see the locked folder containing your files BUT...Use a file manager (like Total Commander or any other file manager) to view the USB device and, Lo and Behold, your "supposedly hidden/encrypted" files are easily viewed and accessable for copying/editing/whatever.
What does this mean?
It means: Anyone who finds your USB device can easily view/copy/edit all your supposedly hidden/encrypted files just as easy as using the mouse AND they don't need the password.
(Since version 5.56, the programmer did partially address this issue, but failed to actually test his work.)
If anyone doesn't agree, simply follow the steps above and become a believer.
(Unfortunately, I paid for this program some time back and probably won't be allowed a refund).
Buyer beware.

Version: Folder Lock 5.6
"The locker doesnt lock anything."
Cons: I locked several files in the locker, and reopened them by going thru my computer and program files. There are several other free sofwares available and are easy to use and work. I cant belive they want us to pay for this, Maybe they want us to lock our wallets in their locker and send it to them.
