"Outstanding"

August 22, 2004  |  By alset

 |  Version: Folder Contents CM 1.0.8

Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
This utility has become such a staple to my navigation that I find myself moving to use it on machines at my work. Of course, it's when something you depend on isn't available that you most realize how useful it is. I love it and recommend it. I suspect that users who offer a negative review on the functionality of such a utility, rather than on the utility itself, are missing the point.

"Xeater Misses the Point"

August 01, 2004  |  By RAngol

 |  Version: Folder Contents CM 1.0.7

Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
If Xeater only has to deal with folders 2 or 3 levels deep I can see his point, not that I'd ever (not until I get to hell one day) consider using column view as default. ;) In deeply nested folders, and I'm guessing Xeater maybe uses 10.2.8 where it would work easier than 10.3.4 where one click in its browser immediate displays all folders at next level in list or icon view, his system might prove a bit difficult to use with directories 8 and 10 deep like I have (475,000 files, 70 GB data on my G5). Take a wrong turn, so to speak, and you have a problem. The suggested use of this CM I can see for accessing frequently used folders by creating aliases, if only on a temporary use basis. On the newer and faster G4 and G5 machines (which includes my PowerBook G4), use of a CM is virtually instantaneous and this would give quick access to finding and launching files. I don't plan to use this. I use DragThing (grand central station for aliases) and the 10.3.4 browser to access folders, but can see this would be a good idea. Have 200,000 files and only 20 GB of data? Then Xeater makes a good point. Sorry, no beer money from me, Xeaster, and rated 5 stars to offset your rating in part. Useful CM if needed.

"Perfect for Me"

July 10, 2004  |  By fwpgreg--2008

 |  Version: Folder Contents CM 1.0.6

Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
Exactly what I needed. Exactly what I wanted. Do you keep aliased folders on your desktop? Just want to open a file from there? This is perfect. Don't want to overload the Dock with folders for quick access? Put 'em on your desktop, and use this to click the folder and see the list of files just like the Dock.

Perfect.

"New Mac OS X feature!!"

June 19, 2004  |  By Xeater

 |  Version: Folder Contents CM 1.0.5

Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I found this "hidden" feature on OS X that everyone must try right away! Check this out, open a finder window in column view (you can make column view the default view). Now, find a folder you're interested in, it can be any folder you like. Ready? Good, now use this trick to reveal the contents of the folder: click on it. Whoa! Let's try again: click on it. Whoa! The columns all shift over very groovily and magically ALL OF THE FOLDER'S CONTENTS ARE REVEALED!

Ok, now you all owe me ten bucks. Since I'm such a nice guy I'll settle for five as long as you send it ASAP. Have a nice day!
