Flock is designed to streamline and emphasize how you interface with social networking sites, RSS and media feeds, and blogs. Because it's built on Firefox 3, its behavior will feel familiar and it supports most--but not all--Firefox extensions. And yes, the "awesome bar" is part of the latest version.

Flock's social network savvy sidebar is the reason to get this browser. Buttons at the top of the collapsible sidebar make accessing any of your social networking or frequently used Web sites easier than Twittering what you had for breakfast. Feature-focused, each button either helps you get your message out faster, like dragging and dropping photos into Flickr, or helps you read your friends' messages quicker, like the integrated RSS reader. The People button turns the sidebar into a nifty way to track all your social networking accounts. Your avatar is displayed on the left, while the right contains links for new messages and new comments. The bottom holds the links to upload new media when applicable and a hot link to open or close your media stream.

There are also hot links to most major blogging sites, and if you choose to configure it for your own self-published blog, Flock guides you through the process. New users will likely find it overwhelming at first, but it really does give you a more comprehensive and real-time view into your social network than you can get otherwise.

Pros

It is the only browser i use because it is the fastest browsers makes downloads fast. use less space of only 12.75 MB

Cons

Not much to say about it disadvantages but it may be better if there are more extensions, plugins and themes were available. Toolbars like like video downloader, language translator etc.

"Wonderful!"

May 27, 2010  |  By ILuvComputers

 |  Version: Flock 2.5.6

Pros

I am enjoying using this browser. I do use Firefox as my default browser. I've tried many browsers.
My favorites are Firefox, Comodo Dragon and Flock.

Cons

Lack of themes and personas. Once these are added this brower will rock even more.

Summary

An excellent browser in my honest opinion. I think the browser ratings should be as follows:
1. Firefox 2. Google Chrome 3. Comodo Dragon 4. Sea Monkey 5. Flock
These are the very best of the browsers I've tried for my personal and professional use. There are none better! :-)

"What a browser! Promises you an EXCELLENT surf!"

May 12, 2010  |  By loooog

 |  Version: Flock 2.5.6

Pros

Best browser i have used!Pages load very fast!(with some configurations, of course)
Great interface!Extremely secure!in my opinion, it is even better than firefox, IE, and all the other browsers!Promises you an excellent time surfing the net.

Cons

If there is one con that definitely exists, here it is:
The flock browser takes quite a long time to startup, and the download manager quipped is quite lousy.Makes your downloads slow!

Summary

Flock is a great combination of IE, and firefox.
It has all the security measures in internet explorer and the extention abilities of firefox and google chrome.
However, i find it is almost a TOTAL RIP-OFF of firefox and explorer!
I would advise you to reconsider before downloading it, despite the excellent comments!

"Very useful but at the same time too slow for my pc"

May 09, 2010  |  By JellybeanJazMin

 |  Version: Flock 2.5.6

Pros

It ties in all your fave social networking sites with ease, great for bookmarking sites, and also supports many plug ins & add ons from firefox. Its also get a great design

Cons

Too many things going on really. If you have a slow pc like me - Id go with something less loaded up. That bieng said its still faster than IE or Firefox.

Summary

It used to be my main browser for a few years until I discovered opera was so much faster :) I would recommend it to people who love social networking & have fast pcs etc - Its like a better version of firefox. Still beware of bugs etc!

"This is a must have browser for any PC-"

May 06, 2010  |  By andreaborman

 |  Version: Flock 2.5.6

Pros

Flock is perfect in speed as it is faster than Internet Explorer and it lists all the social network sites and rss feeds. some say use it as a second browser to Firefox ot Google Chrome but this can be used as your main or only browser, very fast.

Cons

None this is perfect and relable.

Summary

Flock should be on everyones computer and also on public compters in internet cafes and libtaries. which at present only have Internet explorer whic is slow. Internet explorer 8 is no better, get Flock instead.Andrea.

Updated on May 15, 2010

For me,Flock is a must have on my computer.Flock and Firefox are very similar, both are fast and reliable and don't crash or cause any problems. Flock can be used as a main browser or alternative browser, although it is best used as a main browser as it is equal to Google chrome and Firefox. In fact Firefox and Flock are almost identical, the only difference is Firefox is plainer in appearence in that it does not have many toolbars. Where as Flock has these and media bars and links to most well known social network sites. The advantage also is that add ons for Firefox will work in Flock or most of them will.I have recently added download helper to flock, which downloads my videos onto Real Player for me(as Real Player works in Firefox, but not in flock)My advice is get both browsers,Flock and Firefox-they will live hapily beside one another and are both compatabe as well.andrea.

"Practical browser, great integration of FB, YT, etc..."

March 19, 2010  |  By pepepius

 |  Version: Flock 2.5.6

Pros

The convenience of an app-like experience.

Cons

None for now...

Summary

It's "just another browser" which has its particularities, and I like them as I find them convenient. Is it better than Opera, Chrome, FireFox? not really, just a little different.

"Smae Pitfalls As Firefox With Additional Annoyances"

February 27, 2010  |  By KewlKat007

 |  Version: Flock 2.5.6

Pros

It works. That's about it.

Cons

It has the same pitfalls and bugs as Firefox. After all, it is based on Mozilla. I would have figured that maybe... just maybe they would have fixed a bug or two.

Summary

My major gripe with Firefox was it has a tendency to all of a sudden no longer go to websites. It would just say "Loading..." If you closed out Firefox the file, firefox.exe, would still be running in the background. Using "End Task" on Vista was pointless. firefox.exe still stayed running.

Unfortunately the same is true with Flock. It has the same problem. I was hoping that since this bug has existed for a long time that this new project (forked from Mozilla) might fix a few bugs. Nah, they just copied Firefox and added annoying social BS.

Anytime you go to facebook, myspace, or other social networking sites it opens up a sidebar (like where you would see Favorites under IE). It's annoying as hell every time I login to Facebook having that thing pop up despite having disabled it (or so I thought).

Basically, Flock isn't worth a flying "flock." Instead of concentrating on stability, as usual and with most applications nowadays, they added tons of social networking BS. That is, forget about stability and squashing bugs.. Let's just add MORE bells and whistles.

I can see why software so often is crap.

"Best Browser for Social Apps"

February 22, 2010  |  By socks69

 |  Version: Flock 2.5.6

Pros

I found this great for quick changing between apps, and the Facebook side bar gives you the options that have been made more difficult on the latest version of Facebok.

Cons

You won't get the same experience on a netbook.

Summary

Large screen, blogger, video, and social networks? It a must.

"Cluttered with no option for removing the clutter."

February 16, 2010  |  By Notatech

 |  Version: Flock 2.5.6

Pros

I suppose it's nice looking.

Cons

An assuming and intelligence insulting browser with way too many pre-installed websites and no apparent option for removing any of them,
Not enough options for configuring this browser generally,
History deletion is too difficult to find and perform.

Summary

If you enjoy a lot of non-removable "crap" and "clutter" on your web browser than the Floc Browser is the one for you. Arguably, I suppose it's fine to offer certain components on a browser but to make it so that there is no option for removing those components is, in my opinion, extremely poor browser design.
In my investigation of this browser I found that it is very difficult to find where the history can be deleted. I finally figured out the method for deleting history. Believe it or not, it is necessary to delete each "historical" entry one at a time. As far as I could find, it isn't possible to delete all history with one selection. Once again, this is poor browser design, in my opinion.
The Floc Browser comes equipped with various types of social networking "tools" for such activities as "blogging". Also included are so called "social networking" websites such as "Twitter". Once again, there doesn't seem to be an option for removing any of these.
I do not understand the necessity of a so called "social networking" web browser like Floc. If people want to create "bookmarks" or "favorites" (depending on which browser they use) that "hold" these websites, they can certainly do this with any other browser. When websites are "pre-installed" on a browser, this becomes an annoyance for those who have no intention of ever accessing those websites.
I believe that it is accurate to say that most people would never access many of these "fad" websites "held" on the Floc Browser.
The three best browsers extant presently are (in Alphabetical Order) Avant Browser, Mozilla Firefox and Orca Browser. In this review I won't detail why these are the best currently available browsers. Suffice it to say, though, that they are indeed the best currently available browsers. What qualifies me to "say" this is, I have made a study of researching the currently available browsers. While it is certainly possible I may have overlooked "one or two" of them, it would be accurate to inform you that I have certainly researched most of the the most popular browsers. When all testing criteria is taken into consideration, once again, the three aforementioned browsers are the best ones currently available, in my opinion.
