Flock is designed to streamline and emphasize how you interface with social networking sites, RSS and media feeds, and blogs. Because it's built on Firefox 3, its behavior will feel familiar and it supports most--but not all--Firefox extensions. And yes, the "awesome bar" is part of the latest version.
Flock's social network savvy sidebar is the reason to get this browser. Buttons at the top of the collapsible sidebar make accessing any of your social networking or frequently used Web sites easier than Twittering what you had for breakfast. Feature-focused, each button either helps you get your message out faster, like dragging and dropping photos into Flickr, or helps you read your friends' messages quicker, like the integrated RSS reader. The People button turns the sidebar into a nifty way to track all your social networking accounts. Your avatar is displayed on the left, while the right contains links for new messages and new comments. The bottom holds the links to upload new media when applicable and a hot link to open or close your media stream.
There are also hot links to most major blogging sites, and if you choose to configure it for your own self-published blog, Flock guides you through the process. New users will likely find it overwhelming at first, but it really does give you a more comprehensive and real-time view into your social network than you can get otherwise.

Version: Flock 2.5.2
Pros: Not only is it quicker than Firefox 3, it uses the same engine so converters won't feel lost. The social aspect is just a great addon as well that I hardly ever use.
Cons: Only around half the addons from the Mozilla store work and there are very few ad blockers and themes designed for Flock. If it works for Firefox 3.0, then it will work for Flock 2.5.
Summary: Great, under-rated browser. Mac version is quite bad but the Windows version is nice and speedy.

"So far....a very good browser! Hasn't let me down!!"
Pros: Simple, yet functional - fairly fast loading!
Cons: Would like some Security Add-ons...such as WOT and/or Macafee Site Advisor!
Summary: I was having trouble with Firefox Crashing on me, and saw Flock! I think I'll keep it!!! ???

Version: Flock 2.5.2
"Finally a browser that works for me!!"
Pros: It works. Flawlessly!!
I can now effectively multitask in 1 tab
I can search for media, i.e. on YouTube without going to a new tab
Mail & social networking notifications that don't negatively impact on my browsing experience. All in all I LOVE it!!!Cons: Unlike Firefox, there is no add-on for getting rid of web advertisements. But I suspect it is only a matter of time until this is rectified. This is such a tiny thing though, I really don't mind in the grand scheme of things!!
Summary: What is not to like about this browser? It's built on Firefox, so you know its worth checking out. I was tired of Firefox crashing on me and freezing when I opened tabs and links. I found Flock on CNET and as it boasted great social networking featu... read more >>
