Adobe's latest version of the Flash Player browser plug-in is just as trouble-free as previous versions, existing unobtrusively in your system until Web-based animations, games, or ubiquitous Flash ads require its services.
The latest version downloads and installs quickly, and will probably always require a browser restart. Our tests turned up nothing to make us scratch our heads, and upgrading from version 9 to the current one has fixed for many people a bug that caused embedded video to freeze.
You need a Flash Player to experience the Web at its fullest, so users at any level of expertise should have no qualms about installing or upgrading to Flash 10.

DON"T USE WITH 98, ME and other various older Linus and Mac applications. System WILL LOCK UP! Contrary to CNET information Adobe site indicates not compatable with these OS and gives link to download Flash Video 9.
Summary
Aside from some time lost chasing CNET OS compatability list error, Flash Player 9 (again don't download 10 per Adobe not compatable with 98, ME, etc., see above "Cons:" comment) works great with my kids "ME" and my XP works great with Flash Player 10.

Full screen mode has long pauses that the previous version did not.
Summary
I upgraded to 10.xxx from the latest 9.xxx version and immediately had loooong freezes in the video when watching videos in full screen mode that I'd never had before.
The audio would continue but the video would freeze anywhere from a second to sometimes the end of the video. Usually if I normalized the screen it would snap out of it, but then if I went back to full screen the video would freeze within 10 or 20 seconds.
This wasn't happening before upgrading, and when I went back to version 9.xxx the full screen video worked fine (with the same videos). -

You can disable the plug-in and not have to see any flash advertising. Probably has some use if you are too illiterate to be able to read text.
Cons
You can't turn it off. You can't stop it repeating the advertisments over and over. Your can't restrict advertising to stay within the frame so it covers your screen and the paage you want to look at. Keeps trying to install the Google toolbar.
Summary
Flash based advertising is a serious detriment to web browsing and its Flash's market so they won't tone the adverts down or let you do it. They also keep pushing the google bar. Last thing I need is another toolbar clogging up my viewing area but if you install flash you have to turn off the google toolbar download, While flash provides a "rich" experience it's not there to benefit the end viewer, it's there to benefit the site owners. I will continue to block the plug-in and simply avoid sites that use flash. If a site doesn't work without Flash I just move on the the next site. There's plenty of others out there. Bottom line: You install this so the adverts can get right in you face and for very little else.
