This program allows even the most novice Web site developer to add a professional touch to menu design. Flash Menu Builder creates buttons and other menu items with customizable features, such as borders, captions, fill colors, or textures and shapes. A wide selection of special effects, such as "click and hover," gives you many design options from which to choose. This program does not require hours with a manual to create slick menu styles, as an intuitive, well-designed interface makes most projects easy to manage and complete. Though Flash Menu Builder allows you to save and load Root, Container, and Item styles in a design, our CNET testers encountered errors when trying to apply styles to a certain design. Version: Flash Menu Builder 1.0
Pros: Interface has a nice winXP-like theme. Never crashed on my computer.
Cons: First, I must say that the program is NOT INTUITIVE. Unlike some programs where you can just jump right in and start making projects (e.g. Dreamweaver), Flash Menu Builder requires you spending a rather long time learning the interface, menus, etc. Sure, you can just change the text in their examples, but... that's not really what this program is for.
Let us not forget that half of the text in their example menus is in French; the help files are also kind of rough: "Using Flash Menu Builder 1.0, you can create highly efficient and professional looking Flash menus with a minimum of manual efforts."
And the most frustrating of all? Every time I open an example, the program launches an ALERT to remind the user that this is the trial version.
