Version: Flame Text-to-Speech 2.02
"It is a sincere pleasure to give FlameReader the highest possible rateing."
Pros: Everything promised is delivered, and something new that is not mentioned is a translation feature. Copy & paste anything into the window, click translate, choose the two languages and the translation appears in the lower half of the window.
The interface is colorful and very user-friendly. The electronic tutorial is excellent, but if more help is needed the online help is also very good, and email communication is impressive.
Having used an outdated TSS program for several years, I am extremely impressed. The voices are almost human.
My ultimate test was to have it read two chapters of an English translation of an ancient Egyptian text, batched the files, added background music, converted to MP3, burned to CD and listened to it in my car on the way to work.
The individual toolbars are nice, but I like the MiniReader the best. You can put it anywhere on the screen and have access to most of the features.
In conclusion I would like to say that I read all the TSS reviews that I could find. I then downloaded and tested four trial versions. My decision was easily made. I really like this software, and I am not easily satisfied.
