While there were several tutorials and how-to's already available on the Internet to deal with such annoyances, FixWin as a single utility was conceptualized, to fix some of the common annoyances which may be faced by a Windows user. Does your Recycle Bin not refresh correctly? Or maybe you find that for some reason your right click context menu has been disabled in Internet Explorer! Or perhaps things are not fine with your Windows Media Center and you need to flush & rebuild Windows Media Center database! Maybe you opted to be not-warned while deleting Sticky Notes and you now want the warning dialog box back.
What's new in this version: New version includes some minor bugfixes and UI changes.

"Windows Media Player works after one year of struggle!"

Pros
Fast download, easy user interface, applied all tweaks, restarted twice and it just WORKED.
Cons
NONE. This appears to be an "unofficial" Microsoft project that actually achieves much more than official software... Be sure to set a restore point first! I did, but didn't need to use it, fortunately.
Summary
After a year of messing around with fixes, patches and tweaks I had pretty much given up. For awhile it wouldn't launch. Then I couldn't see video. Then it worked for awhile, then it wouldn't launch. This was driving me crazy...I decided to give it one more try and discovered this product which was put together by a Microsoft MVP.
First install, I just applied all the fixes, restarted and it ALMOST worked. I had to rebuild my library, but even after I did that I got the error message that WMP couldn't play the song because the file had been renamed or been moved. This occurred even though the properties were correct and the file location had been updated. I figured it couldn't hurt to restart one more time and voila... I can see all my music and everything just plays with no problem. My desktop and start menu shortcuts launch the player, and I can see and hear my videos. -

It did the job, that is it found my optical drives.
Cons
Simple and does what it says.
Summary
Does not say a Reboot is required before repairs not until the last moment.
After clicking the correction boxes nothing seems to happen until a reboot. -
