Search users seeking more detailed information than a hyperlink and a brief description will like that this Firefox add-on displays the full Web pages matching their search term. Okapiland's small browser toolbar adds only a few buttons and a search field. Those accustomed to the neatly presented lineup offered by search engines like Yahoo or Google may be a bit overwhelmed, but this tiny tool offers users a whole new level of information to find what you're looking for.
As with any search tool, you merely enter a word or phrase in the search field. The difference is in how your results are presented. Okapiland quickly displays small versions of Web pages containing those words. You can even scroll down a single page within the browser to check it out, as well as highlight your search term to find it very easily. Clicking a page's hyperlink opens it in a new tab. Our testers had mixed opinions of this tool. On one hand, it's easier to quickly see if search results are pertinent. On the other hand, you could be easily overwhelmed. Okapiland uses Yahoo for its searches, but it doesn't provide any information on the relevancy of the match. That's needed when you consider it returned over a million possible matches for our sample search phrase of "business management."
Okapiland is unable to render certain objects on pages such as flash-based items. There's an online user manual on the publisher's Web site, but it doesn't give a whole lot of details. Casual users might find this tool a bit overwhelming, but for those who want to see the actual pages returned in their search, this freeware fits the bill.
Publisher's description
From Okapiland Products :Firefox Okapiland Search Toolbar (Firefox Okapibar) is a Firefox toolbar to provide Internet search in Composite Page Mode (CPM) that displays linked pages themselves in addition to hyperlinks. All pages can be displayed by scrolling the pages. Internet Search is good for the quick search or clear search, but the deep search or ambiguous search requires your effort. The CPM can save your operation.
Version 2.6 adds support for Firefox 2.0 and an improvement to resize the width of the frames.
