This application edits, installs, and run Windows Services, but requires extensive knowledge of Services and Windows programming languages. FireDaemon has a clear and easy-to-use Windows Standard interface. Its primary function is the easy conversion of scripts and applications into Windows Services. The program's multitab creation dialog clearly lists all aspects needed to create and install a Windows Service. Dependencies, dialogs, environmental variables, and scheduling are all easily controlled through FireDaemon s multitab dialog box. This application includes quick access to the Services Control Panel and Event Viewer. In our tests, the help file would not load, though an online manual is available. Even with help, novices would find this program intimidating because it requires extensive knowledge of Windows Operating Systems and at least one programming language. Clearly aimed at the advanced user or system administrator, FireDaemon is an easy-to-use and well-designed freeware application.

FireDaemon features easy service configuration via the GUI or command line, a low memory and CPU overhead, subprocess prioritization, custom environments, CPU binding plus monitoring and logging to the event log and on-disk log files.

Version 1.9 GA build 2296 Windows services are editable, support for service recovery options, DEP/NX compatibility, and other improvements.
