If you're looking for a reliable utility for utterly erasing files from your hard drive, you'll be pleased with File Shredder's performance. This free tool's attractive interface is designed for ease of use, and even novices will comprehend its functions right off the bat.
A list of simple commands (such as Add File[s] and Add Folder[s]) let you browse and choose the items you wish to remove; selected items are listed in the large pane that makes up the bulk of the interface. In our tests, configuring File Shredder's settings was simple, and we were able to choose from five options for shredding algorithms, ranging from simple one pass to DoD 5220-22.M to Guttman algorithm with 35 passes.
The utility performed its tasks quickly, and we were unable to detect any remains of the shredded files afterward. While shredders with more bells and whistles are available for businesses with critical security concerns, we recommend this utility for any level of user who needs a simple file eraser for files with low-level security risks.

Version: File Shredder 2
"Simple and easy, but could do better"
Pros: You can delete certain files and folders and includes several overwrites to ensure no recovery of your files. Also enables drag and drop feature to locate and delete the files yourself. Right-click integrated function.
Cons: No right-click function or drag and drop feature for recycle bin. Could include choice delete within the program to delete the recycle bin or temp files.

Version: File Shredder 2
"Bwetter then most I've tried."
Pros: I like this program and am not overly concerned if some program or another has the ability to recover a file or folder I shred with it. I have no other users on my personal computer. What I need is the ability to take a file out of my sight. I had a ruff exe in program files that I couldn't get rid of after uninstall. Other shredders couldn't do the job either but this one did so it's fine by me.
Cons: if the real need arises I'll use FileASSASIN but so far I haven't had a nasty, infected file I couldn't kill. Thus, no cons so far. It's free and works good enough for my needs.

Version: File Shredder 2
Pros: Does what it is supposed to do with super easy UI.
Cons: Would like to see 1. an option to wipe an entire disk, [not just the empty space], and 2. an option in the recycle bin.

Version: File Shredder 2
Pros: It's free and as far as I can tell it works. Files are non recoverable after shredding.
Cons: Could do with have a scheduler added so I can set it to wipe free space regularly.
