Two interesting features distinguish File King from its competitors. First, when printing a list of files in a directory, you can create a duplicate shadow directory, which indexes the filenames with phantom shortcuts. This can be quite useful when you have a multitude of CDs containing data (or even music); you can view the contents of all your CDs through these shadow directories without having to insert the physical disk. The second notable feature is the ability to open multiple files and automatically run macros or insert text strings. File King's interface, alas, is not straightforward, especially when selecting several files. Also, in our opinion, the download file is too big considering the functionality. System administrators and Webmasters likely will find File King useful.

Publisher's description

From OmaLan :

Print directories and files or a subset based on filtering criteria. Filter with wildcard name, date, size, and extension. Directory and file views are available in hierarchical, flat, or CSV formats and allow for various columns of file information to be displayed. You also can perform multiple operations on files based on similar filtering criteria as above. Perform basic file-manipulation and file-management operations, such as renaming, moving, deleting, and copying files based on this criteria. Change the file dates or attributes across filtered criteria. Create empty folder and file shells for CD directories or other archival purposes. Perform full and partial file comparisons among directories. Moving beyond standard everyday operations, you can run an external process, use keystroke macros on each file, or execute a find-and-replace text routine on hundreds of files for massive updates. File King is great for HTML updates.
