This program promises to lock folders from view without any bells and whistles, and it delivers. File Cabinet's interface is a mere two buttons to Lock or Unlock a folder; don't expect anything else. Installation is a bit circuitous, but the majority of users will easily follow the program's logic.
Locking a folder cleverly changes its icon to a small file cabinet. Windows Explorer will open the cabinet to reveal nothing inside. All files and subfolders appear to have disappeared. Any shortcuts to the locked folders and files simply fail to open anything. Unlocking the folder brings everything back as it was. File Cabinet does exhibit an odd feature. Each time you lock or unlock a folder you are forced to name it. The program is unable to keep the original folder name.
Novices to system administrators will find that File Cabinet offers a quick and easy way to lock folders. The extra step to rename each folder may irritate some, but the 15-day demo is more than enough time to find out if you're one of those users.
