The program promises better file-type association management, but severe limitation issues make this demo unusable. The bland interface and non-intuitive process overcomplicates program operation. Windows associates files types with particular programs. The program displays and edits properties for file extensions, but offers no list of active extensions. The program disables property editing, creating customized file extensions, changing associated icons, and Windows Explorer lookups. All disabled functions aside, this program adds little functionality to Windows. Advanced users may find some use for this program, but novices should search elsewhere for more intuitive and functional software.Publisher's description
From Vyntek :File Association Manager 2 allows the user to quickly and easily manage Windows file-type associations. This includes creating new file types and extensions, changing associations, modifying actions, and numerous advanced File Type settings, such as DDE and Attribute Flags. An integrated shell context menu allows the user to automatically look up the file-extension properties of any file in Windows Explorer, by simply right-clicking on the file and choosing the "File Association" pop-up menu option. With a push of a button, you also can reference online resources for details on the currently selected file extension. A new automated backup feature backs up all user-modified file types by exporting current settings before any modifications are saved. This ensures that you can restore previous settings, in case of unexpected results.

Version: File Association Manager 2
Pros: Other than the context menu feature to lookup file extensions on the web, not much. I was hoping this program could help prevent other programs from hijacking file associations. It doesn't notice any changes made. Download QuickAssociation 1.0.2 from PCMag...it's truely amazing and it's only 6 bucks!
Cons: Read above.

"Does exactly what it promises and well!"
Pros: If you need to change some rogue file extensions in windows, especially, in my case, when the buttons are greyed out in the XP folder options view section, this program will do everything you need it to. I easily set up new associations for SHN files after I had installed a plugin to play SHN through mediaPlayer, I found I could only click the files and they instantly played. I preferred them to be clicked and added to the playlist instead of wiping it out every time. So I got this program and now I can add to the playlist in a number of audio programs!
Cons: Erm..the only cons I can see here are the very poor reviews. The editors review gives this utility a bad name here! Also the other reviewers are saying its rubbish when they didn't get the full program! Of course its rubbish because the downloadable demo is crippled sooo much that it won't actually change a thing on your PC! It only lets you SEE the program and how it works!
If you need this...you know you need it. take my word for it: It will work. I love it.

Version: File Association Manager 2
Pros: ? User-friendly interface.
? Does exactly what it says - manage file types.
? Accessible and fast.
Cons: ? Only take care of the standard 3 characters extension - This is a big con... I hope this will get fixed in future versions...
