"still one of the easyist to use when setting up a new unit"
Version: FastLynx 3.3
Pros
the soft ware is easy to see what you are moving
Cons
some times the cables will not work
-
"Good, but not solid."
Version: FastLynx 3.3
Pros
Standard split window interface makes this program easy to understand and operate. The many options for file transfer methods make this program a very handy "Swiss Army Knife" for file transfers between computers. Works with Parallel, Serial, USB, LAN, and direct connect Internet transfers. Includes connection diagnostics and benchmark tests. Also has DOS and Linux server programs (no clients for non Windows platforms).
Cons
Parallel transfers are not solid. If connection drops, that's it, game over. It makes no attempt to reconnect on its own, and there's no option to resume broken transfers.

"Transfers files quickly from computer to computer, and from drive to drive"
Version: FastLynx 3.3
Pros
This is a very efficient, quick program that not only copies, moves, or deletes files between computers (via USB, Parallel, or Serial), but also lets you compare two directories (folders) on the same computer. How many times have you made a backup copy of a folder, then went back later and couldn't remember which folder had newer files. Intuitive interface uses less than, greater than, and equal signs to show you which files are newer. Flexible options prompt you as to what you want to do with each type of file (Files with newer date/time, files with same date/time, files that don't exist on destination, etc.). Options are Transfer All, Transfer, Skip All, Skip. I use it for synchronizing my USB drive with my hard drive, and backing up to DVD. This was a good product 10 years ago when I first used it, and it's even better now!
Cons
I wish it could create a directory structure on the destination without transferring the files, but otherwise, it is very flexible and can do anything I need to do when transferring files from anywhere, to anywhere.

"This thing works!!"
Version: FastLynx 3.3
Summary
I have been using this program for several years. It is invaluable for moving files from one system to another. You install it on both machines and start it up. You get two windows on each. The Current computer and the Destination computer. You browse for files and destinations and let 'er rip. You can copy a file or a whole disk. Have never had a single problem with it. The deluxe version comes with the proper cables. But you can get them elsewhere if need be.

"Finally a solution for ME to XP"
Version: FastLynx 3.3
Summary
After using DCC successfully to transfer data with my last two new computers, I was stymied with getting the ME data on the XP machine. No one had an answer. FastLynx is pretty intuitive and after about 10 minutes of setup and finished with the trial usage, I was well on my way to purchase. This is so much easier than trying to deal with the XP/Me configs separately. A true find.

"Product excellent but Trial sucks"
Version: FastLynx 3.3
Summary
Gives 10 files or 100 meg, whichever comes first. I got 3 files xfered. Did a 7 meg file in less than 1 minute with a parallel hookup. Guess I will try the direct connect function of XP. Goy the puter to recognize the connection. Now I have to figure out how to work the host client function.
By the way, I saw and am guilty of giving a product a bad recommendation because of a bad trial or DOWNLOAD. It's tough on a 56k connection to wait for the download to find out it got screwed up by some premadona prodigy infant bored administrative HACKER.
Please have a productive day!
