Searching through the twigs and branches of your family tree? This dandy toolbar can help streamline your search through a number of Web sources.
Family Genie Genealogy Toolbar is supposed to work with Internet Explorer and Firefox, but we couldn't get it to work with IE. Even after we launched it again, it didn't appear on the Toolbar menu. Even though we hesitate to add new toolbars to our already-overcrowded browser marquee, we liked this handy and nicely designed tool. The Family Genie toolbar is not cluttered with buttons. It has two search fields--one for the first name, one for the last name--and a drop-down menu that includes six genealogy sites and three general sites to search. It also has another drop-down list of genealogy-oriented sites bookmarked.
This free toolbar performed excellently during our tests, responding quickly and with no glitches when used with Firefox. IE users may be out of luck, but Firefox users investigating their genealogical roots--particularly beginners--will find this utility to be a very handy browser add-on.
From Carpe Geekem:
Save time and energy by not having to enter search details multiple times with this handy browser toolbar. It allow you to search several genealogy resources with a simple click. Also, because the toolbar is driven by the Genealogy community, you can submit resources to be added in. This version is the first release on CNET Download.com.
