CNET Editors' review
We can't say that we don't have a few ethical issues with FacebookPasswordDecryptor. Sure, you might need such a program because you've forgotten your own password, or maybe because you suspect that your teenager is up to no good and you want to see what secrets Facebook can reveal. You could just as easily, however, use this program to nose around in your spouse's--or even your employee's--Facebook account. We'll leave that up to you and your conscience. What we can tell you is that FacebookPasswordDecryptor does indeed work as advertised.
FacebookPasswordDecryptor works by detecting passwords that are saved in browsers and messenger programs, including Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, Opera, Safari, Flock, Paltalk, and Miranda. It's very easy to use: just click the Start Recovery button and the program will dig up Facebook passwords wherever they're stored. They're displayed in a list, and users can toggle the password display so that they're only visible when you want them to be. The results can be exported to a text or HTML file. Although FacebookPasswordDecryptor comes with an installer, there's also a portable version of the program that can be placed on a USB drive. The program has no Help file, and it's really pretty short on features; it retrieves Facebook passwords and nothing more. Still, if you're desperate to recover your--or someone else's--Facebook password, this is the program for you.
FacebookPasswordDecryptor comes as a ZIP file, installs a desktop icon without asking, and leaves a file behind upon removal.
Publisher's Description
From SecurityXploded:
FacebookPasswordDecryptor is a tool to instantly recover stored Facebook account passwords by popular web browsers and messengers. Most of the applications store the Login passwords to prevent hassle of entering the password every time by the user. Often these applications use their own proprietary encryption mechanism to store the login passwords including Facebook account passwords. FacebookPasswordDecryptor automatically crawls through each of these applications and instantly recovers the encrypted Facebook account password.
What's new in this version: Version 2.1 has improved HTML report in both cmdline or GUI mode.

"Password recovery or hacking software? You decide!"
Version: FacebookPasswordDecryptor 1.5
Pros
Good piece of software to recover passwords to your own facebook account.
Cons
Illegal to use when gaining access to other peoples facebook account
Summary
Unfortunately gaining access to someone elses facebook account for whatever reasons is illegal certainly in the UK, and such hacking practices come under the terrorism act in British law. Such software is not illegal but how its used is. I'm surprised the CNET staff would suggest such hacking practices with this software.
