For a piece of freeware in a category that's rife with scams and junk, FLVPlayer4Free stands out as a solid, reasonable program that does what it says, offers a bunch of options in the deal, and does it all without annoying predatory advertising.
The program starts off with eight skins, most of which provide significantly different looks beyond just a new coat of paint. The options menu, which is only right-click accessible, provides hot-key and menu access to several useful choices. These include fixed resizing to double the original size or full-screen viewing, maintaining the aspect ration, smoothing, nearly 20 languages, and rollover hints. It also has a built-in screencapper.
The app is not without its flaws, though. When installing, users must opt out of downloading a video-format converter made by the same publisher and the URL downloader doesn't work with YouTube. Still, the player is light on resources and generally performs as promised.

Pros: I used an older version on a known good celeron pc and it was merely 'ok' - some flv videos played in a jerky fashion.
Cons: Thought I would try the 'newer' version and it was worse.
Summary: 05-13-2009. Removed the old flvplayer4free and installed the latest one. The 'newer' 'version' is worse. It uses 100% cpu on my known-good pc and doesn't do anything just sits there. To the 'author' - test your software please.

Pros: Still,this is my default flv player.Excellent output and very user friendly.This will also play other video formats like avi,wmv etc. if you have the required codecs that their site will help you to download.
Cons: Once you load a directory of flv files to its Playlist,those files are played only for that particular session.If you close the program and starts again the files in the Playlist will not be retained even if you click the save button.
Summary: Most dependable video player,with quality output using only lesser cpu memory.
The user support is also good as noted by 'kryton2010'. -

"A fast and easy program to use."
Pros: Easy to use program, it's really easy to make your own media list, it automatically links its self to all FLV downloads. They also offer a toolbar to make future FLV downloads as easy as clicking one button
Cons: No cons to this program
Summary: This program is by far the best FLV program on the internet. I've used it for over 2 years now and it has been really easy to use.

Pros: I had no problem with the download. The program opens files with a simple double click.It's easy to make it full screen for better viewing.
Cons: If you reuse the window to open other files, it will replay the previously opened files. Sometimes, it's hard to make the program stop playing a file in full screen mode. Limited accounts can not close the program after use without using Task Manager
Summary: I recommend this product above the other flv players. If they can fix the full screen problem and add a fix so that limited account users can close the program after using it, it will be perfect.
