For a piece of freeware in a category that's rife with scams and junk, FLVPlayer4Free stands out as a solid, reasonable program that does what it says, offers a bunch of options in the deal, and does it all without annoying predatory advertising.
The program starts off with eight skins, most of which provide significantly different looks beyond just a new coat of paint. The options menu, which is only right-click accessible, provides hot-key and menu access to several useful choices. These include fixed resizing to double the original size or full-screen viewing, maintaining the aspect ration, smoothing, nearly 20 languages, and rollover hints. It also has a built-in screencapper.
The app is not without its flaws, though. When installing, users must opt out of downloading a video-format converter made by the same publisher and the URL downloader doesn't work with YouTube. Still, the player is light on resources and generally performs as promised.

"After a year now, I do love this mighty little player!"
Pros: When I reinstalled Windows, I took the opportunity to keep only this player, and a tool to convert files to FLV. Elegantly simple and efficient. Drag and drop - sweet!
Cons: Reinstallation was problematic: it turned out that , because I now run Opera as my browser, FLVPlayer4Free needed a supplementary download of Adobe Flash Player Active8. Since then, everything is good.
Summary: This player has flawlessly handled all the files I dropped on it. Support was clever and responsive to my question. I am pleased to go solo with this player.

"For using with FLV files it is fantastic."
Pros: Program stays open and it access your diretory that maintains the FLV files without having to reopen every time.
Cons: Since I only use it for FLV files it is great.

Pros: User friendly. Plays various formats. Smooth playback even in f/screen mode. Save Frame feature is great. Frame-freeze is very precise. Lastly, support has been sweet (thanks, Nadia) when I had some trouble migrating to another pc.
Cons: Not so much cons as a wish list for enhanced features: play slower/faster; audio equalizer/spatializer; video image/contrast/color adjustment; sychronizing.
Summary: If you have to get only one flv/media player, get this one. Easy to install and play. Light on disk space. Glitch-free. Excellent (human) support. One size fits all.

"Idiot proof. So easy to use and does everything I want"
Pros: Downloading and installing a no brainer. Window, icons and functions are designed for quick recognition and use. No complicated menus. One click and you're done. Storage of files downloaded automatic. Easy retrieval of files with one click on an icon
Cons: So far I haven't found anything that I don't like. The program does everything I want and more.
