Most people don't need anything more than a Web browser and a Macromedia plug-in to watch Flash videos. However, if you want a hair's breadth more control over your viewing, this open-source freeware program will do the trick.
FLV Player's exceedingly simple controls allow you to navigate backward and forward through videos and play them in a loop. You can also adjust the volume, mute it, and adjust the size of the player. The Settings menu provides some basic control over program behavior, such as opening a new player window when double-clicking on an FLV file and remembering previous settings. And that's about it.
Our only major complaint is that the display window doesn't automatically resize to the size of your movie frame. We hope this problem will be remedied in future versions. FLV Player isn't a must-have by any stretch, but it's a decent tool for penny-pinching Flash developers.

The installer comes with optional FLV file-association, so double clicking an FLV file opens and plays the file in FLV Player.

- adds volume control with [arrow-up] and [arrow-down] keys
- adds timer toggle (normal and milliseconds)

"VIRUS ALERT!"
Pros: Will play flash videos as instructed, and is also no cost.
Cons: It is infected with files that can cause viruses. Is not user friendly for some computers, even if it's not a slow, outdated computer. Will freeze and crash frequently.
Summary: I rated it 1 star due to the file's danger. If it had not been infected, it would have been a lot better.

"EXE FILE INFECTED - VIRUS DETECTED BY BIT DEFENDER"
Pros: well I will not install to then tell you how good my computer is running with the backdoor virus inside....therefore USELESS!!!!!!
Cons: If you don't mind getting a troja Backdoor Virus into your PC go ahead and download it...... EDITORS REVIEW???? Are they really checking things??? Whats up guys???

Pros: this software when i downloaded was picked up by my antivirus, telling me that it is a generic backdoor trojan.. i am disgusted at CNET especially after they said it is tested spyware free.. what ********

"One of the worst FLV players"
Pros: None tha comes to mind
Cons: Buggy. Doesn't resize and often resists a drag re size. The picture is pixellated.
Stutters.Summary: I have a modern P4 with updated Win XP and 3Gb RAM and still this worthless program (there are so many on Cnet) fails to perform. It just about passes the test in small screen mode, but put it into full-screen mode and the faults are exposed: it stutters, the picture is pixelated, and the sound goes out of sync. Another example of poor programming given away for free.
If. like me, you are fussy about quality and don't want to irretrievably waste at least 30 minutes of your life, give this inadequate junk a miss. -
