Extension Overload (formerly called Xtension Overload) is a comprehensive database that reviews and gives detailed information on extensions and control panels that are commonly found in the Extensions and Control Panel folders in Mac OS versions 7.5 through 9.0.4.

Version 5.8 added many improvements to the user interface to make it more compliant with Appearance and Kaleidescope; a comprehensive database with a total of 4,900 extensions, CSM, and CMM; and updates to the user manual. Version 5.8.6 fixes a bug that caused crashes on earlier systems such as Mac OS 8 and OS 8.1.

Note: This unregistered version provides partial database information on 70 percent of the extensions and Control Panel modules, and it displays a nag screen. Registration is $20.
