Explorations familiarizes kids with common words and tests their arithmetic skills, but it suffers from faulty audio features and outdated design elements. The colorful interface takes over your entire screen and offers large graphical buttons for the program's assortment of text- and numeral-heavy learning modules.
The program offers several word and math challenges that instruct players to pick the answers. Positive statements like "Great job" and a clapping sound accompany correct answers, and users can select the difficulty level in some modules. Unfortunately, the Hear It feature in the Click, Tongue Twisters, and Dictionary categories failed to work during testing.
The too-loud colors and dated appearance aren't very appealing, and the program lacks the polish offered in more comprehensive learning tools. Nonetheless, parents and their kids might appreciate that it's easy enough to use and offered free of charge.
