Quickly password protect executables with this simple to use tool, but be warned that some programs don't survive the process. Exe Guarder's simple interface puts almost every function in a single dialog page. The straightforward program needs little instruction. Experienced users will find the interface layout makes operation obvious.
Opening the app displays a small screen with three text boxes and some buttons. Browsing for the file to protect is the first step. Enter a password twice in the other two boxes and press encrypt. It can't get much easier than that. Of course, there are options that can be set on a separate screen. Users can quickly set the password dialog-window text, invoke password protection only after a certain date, or set the executable to only request a password if moved to a different PC.
Restoring an executable requires only a button press. Unfortunately, you'll find some executables do not respond well to password protection. Exe Guarder warns users some executables may not run, but there doesn't seem to be a particular type of problem executable.
If you need to password protect executables, this is one of the easier-to-use apps in the genre. Exe Guarder's short, seven-day demo is more than enough time to master the utility and see if your executables are still usable
