Summary
Excel OCX has many methods for moving data between Excel and Visual Basic - for instance moving the values in a ListView control to an Excel worksheet, moving values from an Excel worksheet to a Visual Basic FlexGrid control, etc. Excel Automation doesn't have any of these features built-in! While Excel OCX does have some features of Excel automation I found that using Excel OCX was much simpler than Excel automation. I am an expert Visual Basic Programmer who saved many hours of programming time with Excel OCX! Great product! I highly recommend it!

Summary
This is just an OCX wrapper for the existing Excel Automation object. I don't see any added value. In addition, the API functions are poorly defined. The "OpenWorkbook" function has parameters that are input only, such as the workbook name, defined as input-output.
