"Really fast, and really easy to use"
Version: ExactScan 2.22
Pros
-Really awesome and simple user interface. The content de-skew is a great feature. It really helps my scans to look better and more professional. I upgraded to pro for the OCR and was not at all disappointed. The OCR is extremely fast and really accurate. It also compresses tightly compresses my PDF files. I also really like the different and easy to setup profiles which gives me lots of flexibility, Also cheaper than the other leading brands and a lot better value.
Cons
None that I can find

"Easy to use scanner software with drivers included"
Version: ExactScan 2.12.3
Pros
Straightforward interface for simple or advanced needs
Cons
incorrect system requirements listed here at Download.com. Some users may be misled into thinking it wont work on their systems.
Summary
Good scanner software with solid support for over 200 models of scanners. The interface is simple for easy use yet complete enough for serious advanced scanning.
My only problem is with the misleading system requirements listed. The Download.com listing claims that this is intel-only. This is incorrect. The software is in fact a Universal Binary and will work on PowerPC based Macs jut fine.
This kind of posted misinformation can only lead to lost income for the publisher when a PowerPC Mac user is misled and passes by and goes elsewhere for their needs.
I don't knw who is responsible forposting the misleading information, but it is a costly error on someone's part!

"Excellent accuracy at low cost"
Version: ExactScan 2.10
Pros
Excellent accuracy
Pretty good OCR (afaik only in pro version)
User-friendly
Low costCons
Some of the killer features only available for pro version
Summary
I use ExactScan with a Avision AV220 document scanner under Mac OS X 10.6. Never had problems and everything works like I expect it to work.
-
"Works out of the box"
Version: ExactScan 2.9
Pros
Great software, many options, OCR
Cons
None know. But third-party TWAIN drivers can be a ***** to work with.
Summary
@Javaks: maybe you tried with a TWAIN driver? I found TWAIN drivers are often not the greatest piece of software, some work better, some not so, ... ExactScan appear to be mostly about the 200 built-in drivers for otherwise "PC" document scanners from Kodak, Visioneer, Xerox and such, those are intended to work perfectly.

"The best scan application for the Mac"
Version: ExactScan 2.10
Pros
superb built-in drivers for my Xerox DocuMate, blazingly fast, best user-interface I ever encountered in a scan application, good OCR in the Pro version, and tightly compressed PDF files
Cons
None found so far.
Summary
I need to scan quite some documents a day in our office, ExactScan is a great help for us. It is also the only app that could handle our Xerox DocuMae - we where surprised how well that scanner can work. Working with the OCR'ed PDFs is a joy, Apple's Spotlight indexes and retrieves them instantly!

"Crash after first scan"
Version: ExactScan 2.9
Pros
Seems like there are many options, but couldn't get to them
Cons
After downloading trial copy, I tried scanning a B/W page. When the scan was done, the program crashed. I tried several times with different setting but ended with same result.

"Document Management comes to OS X"
Version: ExactScan 2.7.5
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I used Acrobat Pro, and Readiris Cooperate for scanning. None of them worked the way I wanted. Readiris 11 was always buggy and I never liked that bloated Acrobat.
ExactScan beats them hands down, for a mere 100â?¬ you get all you want from an OCR scanning solution, there is no limit of scanned pages like that ridiculous 50 page limit of Readiris Pro, which costs exactly the same. If you need help, you call them and you get one of the programers on line who will give you immediate competent support. No call center help line, who knows less than you do, like Apples first level support. Any wishes, if it makes sense to them, they will look into it.
I got an AV3200SU Duplex scanner with it, all together for 900â?¬. Only the update for Readiris Coop, which you need if you want to scan more than 50 pages is 400â?¬. Their driver for the Avision scanner is a direct driver, meaning there is no fumbling around with twain interfaces. However there is a twain driver as well, so you can also scan out your Apps, like Image Capture. Check there website if you scanner is supported. They have drivers for Fuijitsu, Xerox, and other scanners you would love to use under OS X.
I was really happy to get a professional scanner now running with my mac. Bye, bye HP.
Together with the speedy Avision scanner I can use document management like I always wanted on my mac, which was not possible before due to poor scanner drivers and OCR software under OS X.
And yes, the user interface, though I have to admit it's quite effective, could use some cosmetic. -
"OK software - poor website/purchasing experience"
Version: ExactScan 2.0.3b
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
This is the only way to run the great AVision scanners on the Mac. The latest betas work well with 10.5.1. Pretty utilitarian interface but great scanning options.
Tried to buy the software on their website today but all the pages dealing with the actual purchase are in German - not much help. If you do battle through it all, the actual order fails - taking you to the German PayPal site without registering your data.
Thus impossible to buy. Pity.
Guys you need to clean this up a bit. And translate the Store pages into English.
