This application provides many of the features we like to see in a privacy app, but the demo restriction proves to be its undoing. Evidence Wiper's two-paned interface lets you view various aspects of your PC activities, including recently accessed files, Run menu history, and Internet Explorer traces. Unfortunately, the program doesn't offer support for alternative browsers other than Opera and lacks a secure file shredder for exorcising sensitive documents. Still, we were glad to see a nice-sized list of supported third-party apps, including AOL Instant Messenger, Photoshop, and Google toolbar. You can't set Evidence Wiper to automatically run on restart or schedule cleaning sessions at regular intervals. However, the fact that the trial version refuses to remove any evidence whatsoever makes all of our other complaints seem rather petty. When you add it all up, we have a tough time suggesting this utility as a functional privacy option.Publisher's Description
