"Wonderful product--keeps me out of the Post Office!"

    November 2, 2009  |   By bassisland--2008

    Version: Endicia 2.9.3

    Pros

Endicia makes it wonderfully easy to pay exact postage for various packages and envelopes. I don't have to use too many stamps, or go to the Post Office. It tracks shipments, does insurance, and allows me to send from different (stored) addresses.

    Cons

The scale is sometimes a bit unreliable and has to be re-set.

    Summary

A great product. A must for small businesses or for people who send a lot of mail of different sizes or from multiple addresses.

"Endicia For Mac - A Useless Business Tool"

    June 30, 2009  |   By Thunderjet214

    Version: Endicia 2.9.1

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
My direct experience with Endicia for Mac is that it's limitations and failures make it useless for serious business use. I called the company before I purchased to tell them exactly what I need and ask whether their product accommodates my needs. The salesman said "yes" to all my needs . . .

Endicia tech support admits their Mac product is deeply flawed and very limited in capability, including against their own PC product. I don't have their PC version so I can't comment on their Mac-PC implementation comparison.

However, their Mac version has ZERO flexibility on label size. In fact, the ONLY label the Mac version can print is 8.5 x 5.5 labels (two per page, or Avery 5126). This is simply stupid, and it gets much worse. (Note: the PC version has more flexibility on label size).

If you want to print a label to attach to a large envelope, well, you're out of luck. Endicia for Mac REQUIRES you to run the envelope through the printer. If you change any of the settings to cause the software to actually print a label, the postage changes to one of the package rates, not the much cheaper envelope rate.

This program is useless unless your only intention, forever, is to either run envelopes through your printer or print labels for boxes. Anything in between and you're out of luck.

Also, if you'd like to use a smaller (and MUCH cheaper) label, still suitable for printing the "return address - addressee - postage" (like one of the Avery 6-up labels), you're out of luck.

Still looking for a usable Mac based internet postage program . . .

    Dave

    "Amazing, amazing program"

    August 4, 2008  |   By sequoia

    Version: Endicia 2.7

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I held off on using Endicia for years, mainly because I had a contract with Pitney Bowes (aka PB). But I never liked PB; they charged $75 for software updates, and way too much for their equipment; and their long contracts were ridiculous. So when we opened up a new business venture a year ago, I decided to open up an account with Endicia. Within the first 2 days, I was totally hooked. It's one of those Mac apps that make you smile every time you use it. SO worth their $15/month feeâ??hell, you make that up in saved time every couple of days.

Here are just some of the amazing features:

â?¢ It's on your Mac! PB isn't. Intuitive software. Ties directly into your Entourage or Address Book contacts. Extremely stable, has never crashed even once, and it's open and running, 24/7.

Makes odd packages (Media Rate, Priority Mail overseas, Flat-Rate boxes, etc) so easy. NO MORE FILLING OUT CUSTOMS FORMS, because Endicia's software does it for you.

â?¢ Did I mention no more filling out customs forms?

â?¢ Prints entire shipping labels (stamp, return address, and customer address) all in one label. You just need a stamp? No problem, it can do that, too.

â?¢ Works perfectly with the best shipping printer ever made, the Zebra 2844. True work horse, and we purchased ours on eBay as a totally refurbished unit (1 year warranty) for $96. Uses cheap 4x6" labels.

â?¢ Need more postage? Click a button, choose how much ($25-500), and 5 seconds later, it's there.

If you're reading this, have a business, and are looking for a shipping system, I highly recommend Endicia. After a full year, it still makes me grin each time I use it.

    "Great functionality/features!"

    April 13, 2006  |   By emulsion71

    Version: Endicia 2.1

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
With Endicia, you can print labels for First Class, Media Mail, Parcel Post and Priority Mail in addition to some (if not most) international countries. The USPS website "Click-N-Ship" allows you to print labels only for Priority Mail, no first class or media mail. Paypal allows you to print labels for First Class and Media Mail in addition to Priority Mail, but only for items paid for through Paypal. With Endicia, you can mail out to anyone, without these limitations. I use it mostly for shipping of my eBay auction items.

The software works so well it's a joy to use. I can even add a picture or company logo next to my return addres! The labels print out exceedingly well and there are several different options for printers to use (including an existing laser/inkjet). I purchased the 25lb digital scale from Endicia and it's great! Just click on 'weigh' in the software and it automatically calculates and fills in the postage for you.

Although I wish the service fee was a bit less, on the other hand, for less than the cost of one pizza per month, you get full a featured shipping solution right on your Mac.

With this latest version, Endicia has added the ability to print postage directly on envelopes. It works well.

"SILVER BULLET FOR MAC PRIORITY AND EXPRESS USERS!!"

    November 2, 2004  |   By TaosPhoto

    Version: Endicia 2.0.1

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
Priority or Express Mail via the USPS is the best bang for the buck to offer a consumer for lightweight inexpensive priced items that need to be trackable. It is a proven fact that online buyers yes/no decisions many times hinge on shipping cost. For 1 pound you can send a 3 day package for $3.85 including free packaging material such and envelopes and boxes. The new version of this software is even better than the last. Yes it is $20.00 a month for Endica but it will pay for itself if you are doing more than 20-30 packages a month. If your printer jams or a label mucks up getting a credit back to your account is a piece of cake. For the Mac user, a major problem has been the Java interface with the USPS- problem solved. In addition, it is very helpful that shipments are automatically tracked with 2 clicks with a visual colored button for various stages of purchases and shipments. The software has description, insurance and email fields that provide a log, which can be exported to a spreadsheet or database. A customer has a question. . .you have an answer. . .fast. eBay sellers, and small business shippers who prefer a Mac and a simple, affordable shipping solution need to give this (to me) sanity saving piece of software a try. I am not paid by Endica or any company or individual related to Endica/Swordfish. I am taking the time to do this because others should know that this is a winner and keeps getting better and the coders at Endica/Mac should be given a job well done. There is a version that works on a Windoze platform.

"Great for packages, but doesn't print postage on..."

    Version: Endicia 2.0.1

    Summary

    ...letters...
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
This software/service would be most excellent for shipping packages (many uses for eBay spring to mind), but currently does not support printing digital postage for standard envelopes.

It works quite well for shipping packages, but I do very much wish they'd put in the ability to print postage for letters.

Also, the $20/month subscription fee seems a bit steep, espescially for low-volume mailers like myself.

    "UPstrap.com"

    June 24, 2004  |   By UPstrap

    Version: Endicia 2.0.1

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
Iâ??ve been using Swordfish now for six months. It has evolved nicely during that time but this new release, version 2.0.1 is a polished product with much more automation. I ship a lot of priority mail and Swordfish saves a huge amount of time and provides a status check of all shipments with two clicks, a list/log of orders, import/export for external databases and now an automated xml feed. If you ship just a few packages a week then it may not be worth your time. I spend about three hours a day doing this and I think with some work the new version will cut it down to 1 hour! I will gladly pay $20.00 a month to save hours and hours of my time.

If you do a lot of shipping using priority mail and have interfaced with the USPS website using a Mac and the java code issue, you will know the blessing of this software. I not to mention the ease of a refund of postage when a mistake happens (usually my fault). Iâ??ve tried to get a refund from the USPS and you would think you were trying to adopt a child. I spoke with a guy at the local PO the other day that had a big plastic tub of packages and he was using stamps.com and not a happy camper. Something about confirmation of delivery interface with the USPS server issues.

    "I must be crazy..."

    June 23, 2004  |   By auctions--2008

    Version: Endicia 2.0.1

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
But I Love this program. It is scriptable,It is unbelievably fast. It takes the guy at the post office longer to put postage on my box than with swordfish 2. I found the other online postage options quite cumbersome. I was hesitant to pay $20 a month, but it saves me a LOT of time it is totally worth it for me. A++
My only wish is for them to finally implement the expressmail and international mail options.

I love 1.0, would have paid $10 or $20 for it, but ONCE. I am shocked there is not a "stripped down" version that has been mentioned below.
