This freeware application appears to thoroughly scan your system's drives for errors, but the results are less than impressive. Emsa DiskCheck's straightforward interface has pull-down menus for selecting disk and drive types. You can easily check or uncheck the two options to perform a pre-scan and clear the cache before the process begins, and a simple click of the Check button starts the scan. A small window provides scan details and results as they occur, and you can view other information such as elapsed time and estimated time remaining in the Statistics section. Though this information is useful, the actual scan results aren't as beneficial. A few problems stem from the program's design: its window can't be resized, and the scroll bar for viewing scan results only moves up and down, so the complete path of files containing errors isn't always visible. You can't copy the results and no reporting tools are offered to view or save the information. Though Emsa DiskCheck can let you know the number of errors it finds on your drives, its limited information probably won't help you find or fix them.Publisher's description
From EMSA Systems :Emsa DiskCheck is a freeware dual-purpose utility for disk surface checking--prescan and full disk reading--with real conditions benchmarking. It scans the entire contents of a CD, DVD, or hard drive and shows found disk errors.

Version: Emsa DiskCheck 1.57
"Double checks for CD/DVD errors!"
Pros: You'd probably encountered a DVD/CD burned but after accessing it afterwards the DVD/CD has 1 or more errors. This simple program checks your whole DVD/CD for any errors that may encounter so you won't worry that one or more files might be unreadable. A must have for those who burn frequently.
Cons: Windows 95 GUI menu

Version: Emsa DiskCheck 1.57
Pros: Its quick?
Cons: The window doesn't maximize. I recieved one error on a disk I checked. It listed the path of the error, but the location was too long to see the whole path.
F:\Documents and Settings\Application Da.... is all I can see. Big help. :\

Version: Emsa DiskCheck 1.57
Pros: One great use for this software - checking those rental DVDs you get in the post (or from the store) before you watch them and then they fail half way through - if that's ever happenned to you you'll value this software.
Cons: A bit primitive - but hey it's free.
