"Excellent Program!!!"

January 10, 2014  |  By RVDaba

 |  Version: Emergency Recovery Utility NT 1.1

Pros

I have been using this excellent program for several years now without a single problem. The only problem some of my customers
have is they still have not learned how to run MS's File Manager.
I suspect those that are having problems are those that have no idea how to run File Manager (simple freebie from MS).
I also use another excellent program "Tiny Watcher" that also
requires MS "File Manager" basics to use effectively. I have no idea why so many users will not spend an hour learning this simple
Freebie and maybe it might be time for CNET come up with a very simple lesson to help those mentally challenged individuals. I have started to refuse service to these customers as they just waste too much of my time and there own as well.

Cons

Too difficult to use for the mentally challenged. There is another program called "Regbak" that is easier to use and is almost identical to "Erunt" in functions. I still prefer "Erunt" as
"Regbak" seems to be a dressed up copy but who really knows-both work fine.

Summary

Excellent work and should be included in all MS OS releases.

"THE MOST ESSENTIAL TOOL FOR WINDOWS USERS"

May 16, 2012  |  By mootrix

 |  Version: Emergency Recovery Utility NT 1.1

Pros

Very easy to use.
Comprehensive ReadME file
Restore windows even if you can't boot (requires additional tools)
Works with 2K\XP and above
You can automate registry backup (eg every day)

Cons

Microsoft needs to add ERUNT to every Windows setup CD\DVD
I wish I found it sooner!

Summary

Whether you're a computer tech working in a big corporation or just an ordinary windows users that only uses his\her computer for a office work this program is a MUST. The registry is one of the most important components of any modern windows system and is very vulnerable to corruption. With ERUNT you can make backup copies of the registry as often as you like and be assured that if things go wrong like for example when installing a new program you can restore it back to its former glory.

1 important note:You will need to have a backup made before you can restore it. So backup as often as you like but make sure if you are going to make some serious changes in windows that you backup with ERUNT BEFORE you do the changes, that's how it works.

For those worried by the amount of space the backup will take, it is about 30MB or so depending on the size of your registry. And if you happen to have multiple backups and you are worried about space, just zip it. I zipped a 20MB backup folder to around 4MB!!!

Another note: You often hear some folk say backup with regedit or regedit32 (or similar)Those backups are completely useless because when you try to restore using them they actually merge with the existing registry, which will often just mess things up. ERUNT is one of the only tools I know of that makes a complete mirror copy of the registry when backing up and when you restore will completely replace the existing registry with the backup version. (Sorry about long review but this tools ROCKS!!!)

Super TIP:IF you are installing a fresh copy of windows, make sure that before you add any extra software (like pdfs readers,mp3 players etc.) backup with ERUNT and after installing all the other applications backup with ERUNT again. Then you will have what I call the core backups. If you have a serious problem with your computer that isn't solved with the most recent ERUNT backups use the core backups. If the core backups don't work the problem is not with the registry.

"Absolutely great"

September 07, 2009  |  By TOMW17

 |  Version: Emergency Recovery Utility NT 1.1

Pros

Better and more reliable than Windows own system restore. Restores the whole Windows system and instead of overwriting bad registry values it deletes the damaged registry and practically builds a new one by restoring it to its previous state.

Cons

I used many times and never had any issues.

"Install before you need it - then forget it till you do"

March 29, 2009  |  By Aurora_7

 |  Version: Emergency Recovery Utility NT 1.1

Pros

Simple yet vital registry recovery software. Anyone can use it

Cons

Well...scratching around here....the help file is a bit long. Don't be put off, it is a very simple utility.

Summary

Anyone can use ERUNT: everyone probably should. If you know enough to Respect the Registry, you know enough to use ERUNT. You, or your tech support person, may one day be grateful for this app.

ERUNT can be set to make a daily registry backup for you. Just select the ?autobackup? option as you install the program. You can then make further on-demand backups, or just forget it ?unless, and until, something dire happens to your computer.

If it does, and you need to restore your registry, navigate to the WINDOWS\ERDNT folder, find the date you want to restore to, and click on the .exe file within that date?s folder. Done. The registry will be restored. If your computer is harmed to the extent you cannot navigate to the folder, ERUNT?s help file guides you step by step to other emergency recovery methods (so if you?ve only got access to one computer, best print off the readme file straight after installation).

I don?t use NTREGOPT, the registry optimiser bundled with it, and I don?t use the ERUNT utility in any other way. I still prefer to use System Restore before I make changes to the computer. But I love the security of having ERUNT?s daily backup in case the unexpected happens. You, or your tech support person, might appreciate this too.
