From Emurasoft :EmEditor Professional, a text editor for Windows, supports JavaScript or VBScript macros, Unicode, plug-ins, syntax highlighting (including embedded scripts in HTML, ASP, and PHP files), drag-and-drop, and menu and keyboard customizations. The text editor supports not only JavaScript and VBScript for the text editing macros, but also PerlScript, PHPScript, Python, Ruby, and many other ActiveScript languages as long as script engines you want to use are installed on your system. EmEditor allows you to open huge files (up to 248GB) fast easily, and optimized for the speed and reliability. EmEditor Professional can record and play keystrokes and mouse operation against other applications, and includes new plug-ins including Projects and Word Complete, lots of new objects for macros, the Macros Toolbar, and portability options (such as USB drive setup), virtual space mode, wrap indent, smooth scroll, Theme feature for color settings, and crash auto-recovery.

"Best general purpose text editor"
Pros: This text editor is rock solid and fast. I have used it most days since November 1999 and every version is an improvement on the last. Search and replace (including with regular expressions) and search highlighting I cannot live without.
Cons: no hex editor, but you can open binary files
Summary: Opens huge files quickly. Never crashes. Macros are easy to record and modify. Plugins are useful. Fantastic unicode / text encoding support, so if you ever open files with Asian encoding, you can trust EmEditor to work properly. It can usually dete... read more >>
