This simple game makes a humorous holiday version, but we're not sure how much long-term appeal it holds. Elf Bowling 3 is not really a bowling game at all. As Santa Claus, you use a pink brassiere to slingshot wisecracking, smart-mouthed elves into three targets. You score points depending on how close you get to the bull's-eye; hitting the flying penguins awards you additional points. Beyond achieving a high score, though, there's no other goal, and since the game lacks difficulty levels, additional boards, or customization options, some folks may get bored after a few rounds. The wintery scene and animations look nice enough, but we wish you could disable the elves' commentary, particulary since some of the banter is unsuitable for children. Also, a lot of games like this are freeware, but this one only lets you play for an hour before forcing you to fork over $20. Still, if you're looking for a couple of laughs come Christmas, you might give Elf Bowling 3 a shot.

  Pros: It's quite a funny game.

  Cons: You can only play it for 60 minutes. I wouldn't actually pay for a game like that.
