Greatly enhancing Windows' search functionality, Effective File Search lives up to its name. The interface is more straightforward than that of the built-in Windows search and should be simple enough for most users to figure out. You also can call up the utility by right-clicking a drive or folder.

Effective File Search does quite a bit more than the standard find. The program enables you to search several folders at once and even search within those results. When file contents are a variable, you'll be able to scan not only plain text, but also Unicode or hex code. Logical expressions with the and, or, and not operators are supported here, too. When searching by size, you can indicate minimums and maximums, and when searching by date, the utility considers not only the date of the last modification, but also when the file was created or last accessed.

Any search results can be saved as a CSV file, included in a batch-command file or printed. If you expect to perform a search with the same conditions in the future, just save the search parameters. We would recommend Effective File Search for anyone with a massive hard drive full of data.
