"Buggy, temperamental and time consuming"

Recovers some files and finds folders. I think it does some good things, but find myself frustrated with the lack of...read the cons section.
I should state that I went to some data dr franchise, but was not willing to pay up. I asked for my HD back. These companies prey upon your misfortune and try to get you to pay $1000's for your data. It works like this: How soon do you need your data? You: yesterday. Them: "We'll need to do an assessment." You: "Um.. ok. How much?" Them: " No worries its only $150" "You: cool" Them: ...to get it finished by next week." You: "I need it right away" Them: "$350" You: "well ok" You then will get a call. "Great news Mr/Mrs Sucka, we can recover some or maybe all of your data. You: "Great!" Them: do you want that next day, next week or 3 weeks? It is $1000 rushed, $6-700 medium and $350 for 3 weeks." If you do not cough up $1000, it will sit for 3 weeks. You must also buy their external HD for $$$.Cons
This must be beta-software. It assigns random file numbers in place of the original file names. You are left with endless (thousands) of files to rename. It scans your drive for 8+ hours and then freezes when you attempt to save your files. Be patient and it will allow you to save. It will seem like an eternity, but it is a shorter period of time than rescanning and learning to be patient. This part was a big time waster for me. Even when you click the save button after long periods of waiting for it to be possible, it seems to ignor your click. Again, wait for it. The other odd thing it is that my MS-Office products were located, but were all 97-2003 versions. There were not any docx files (2010). Is this software incapable of recovering MS-Office products of recent vintage? It might store them as rtf files. It seems like a fail to me. It found all of my original folders with names, but no files were in them (***?). This is a huge headache. pfds are safe, it did not miss any of those.
Summary
This software is disappointing at best. I have thousands upon thousands of files to rename - oh, thank you - wonderful software.
I am taking my drive to local yocal computer repair store and can specify that the files are removed with names intact or I don't pay (as per the deal I made over the phone). It will cost me $300-400, but I don't have to waste days trying to get the "Easy Recov" software to do its thing. I at least am able to get my files off of the drive before sending it out to an unknown repair shop.
I heard that you can get your files back by opening your drive with a system running Linux, but have not tried it. I think that assumes not errors or bad sectors are present. -
"It is the best recovery tool,i have ever used."

It is a very good product and i respect the ingenuity of the producer. But note there is no end to innovative improvements
Cons
The only problem i noted is looking for a professional to bring the recovered files back into my Computer document folder. I recommend it is made operationally simpler for home users like me and a novice in technicalities.

Demo works ok to 'tease' you with hint that this app can see missing/eraased/damaged files. Does not guarantee full version will recover 100% of files without data loss though :\
Cons
1) Demo is useless. is a big tease! $499 full version maybe ok for an IT firm or freelance tech. Too pricey unless your data == $$$ to you 2) floppy boot diskette?!? Give me a break! Who uses those things anymore?! A bootable cd/dvd makes more sense!
Summary
This app is positioned for sale to professionals (and maybe desperate end users). This is not positioned for the every day pc user's use. Is brain dead, point and click simple to use though. No need to understand partitions, dynamic disks, raid, or anything else 'techie' to get this app to work.
If your data is worth $$$ to you or contains memories worth more than money, then this may be the way to go. It is cheaper than using the services of a data recovery team.
However, if your drive is suffering from physical damage (ie overheating, excessive g-forces as occurs from dropping, or any other serious physical damage you may be best saving the fee this requires and just go straight to a data recovery company -- and pay the same or perhaps 2x more than this app to have someone else do with this cannot). A floppy boot diskette? I'm still shaking my head over that one...
I gave this a 1-star...only because the system will not accept a ZERO -
"One stop solution for any HD software issues"

Pros
Recovered my data easily and effectively. The professional edition is a bit pricey, but there's a standard edition that'll recover data (but not have any bells and whistles) for about a third of the price.
Cons
It was a bit slow, to scan a 1TB drive took about 24 hours (version 6.21), which is faster than the speed quoted by the previous reviewer.

Was successful recovering files from a hard drive that had the partion deleted a new partion of a different size built then formatted and some data copied to it

Slow. It took 48 hour to scan a 800 MB disk

This is a Trial version, it only shows you files that can be found, but you are only able to test the recovery options by purchasing the full version. Not worth the time it took to download and install.
