Version: Easy Undelete 3.0
"I like this product: it works!"
Pros: I like this product: it works. That said, I did not test it exhaustively and hope I never need to. I can say it works very well recovering jpg files from hard disk and compact flash cards in areas of a disk that have not been written over. There is a wizard and also a number of hands-on features. The latter in the form of the ability to view a hex dump and an image of picture files are particularly useful as one digs through the wreckage. For each file there is also an indicator of the chance of recovery. While some reviews have indicated Easy Undelete will only recover 32KB files, this is only in the case of the free demo. I was undeleting 4+ MB files with no difficulty and would assume that in the full product there is no file size limit.
In use the application runs at a reasonable speed on a 2 GHz machine going through 1 GB of memory in about 10 minutes with moderate CPU usage. The recovery algorithms run at about the same speed. In my case the recovery of the jpg files appeared to be 100%.
When most people need an undelete program the situation is an emergency. The primary user question is: Is it worth spending the money on this product to try to get my files back? At under $25 Easy Undelete is a low cost bet and appears to work well in reasonable situations. In addition to a relatively painless price the purchase and install processes are also easy and quick.
Cons: Application reviews are supposed to have CONS so here are some that are really in the form of a wish list. I wish the basic application window would refresh when uncovered while busy: its called good programming standards. I wish the user manual was in pdf format which would make it much easier to use. While file condition (chance of recovery) is a great idea, what do indicators like probably good mean? How was this qualification arrived at? How to documentation is good but detailed documentation is completely lacking. File creation and last modified dates are a great help in navigating through the list of deleted files. But the former is not shown and the latter seems to always be set to the date/ time of the Easy Undelete disk area search. Other undelete applications such as R-Undelete seem to be able to accurately present these dates. In addition a last modified date/ time of the Easy Undelete run seems to indicate a destructive algorithm. This makes me very uncomfortable. The inclusion of a hex dump viewer is very nice. It would be even nicer if it was an editor or linked to the users favorite editor.

Pros: I just formated the memory card with most of my photos on it by mistake. This program brought it right back with no data loss.

Version: Easy Undelete 3.0
"If you lose a file or many files this will find it!!!!"
Pros: Well it found my files that I had from dive in Okinawa Japan. I formatted the Compact flash card (2gb) and lost all the memories of the dive (about 90+ pictures) at 5 megapixel... Needless to say once I finally was able to get the full version it worked without a fuss and even recovered stuff from over a year ago. This software rocks!
Cons: Military stationed overseas beware, if you try to buy online they do not have a APO option on the menu through the website. I tried 3 times. I even changed my credit card billing address but they said my IP address was not from the U.S. so they declined it as fraudulent. Meanwhile my friends are screaming at me if I was able to get the pictures recovered. It took me a strong and wordy email to get them to charge my card to get the software. Once they did........it worked...(yay) this whole process took over 3 weeks...

Version: Easy Undelete 3.0
Pros: Fairly simple and straight forward user interface. Nothing to confuse the beginner. Best of ALL, it gets the job done at about half the price of the other more well known undelete programs.
Cons: No filters. It always scans for ALL deleted files/folders and its then up to you to pick what you want to recover.
