Though this application won't knock you over with an overwhelming number of DVD-shrinking tricks, it will impress with its ease of use and reliability. Easy DVD Shrink takes a digital movie and compresses the file so it's easily saved on disc or to a hard drive. No prior experience is needed to perform this task, as the program streamlines the process effectively in just a few mouse clicks. The program interface is very well-designed. To compress a file, only two steps are required: choosing a compression size and clicking the start button. If you choose to hang around the PC while Easy DVD Shrink does its job, you can even watch clips of your film in the program's preview pane. Movie files, however, are big--and so is this program. Our test computer (running a Pentium IV with 512MB RAM) slowed significantly while working on a project. Though the trial version only allows you three projects, it is sufficient to see Easy DVD Shrink is a reliable, useful tool for what is a fairly basic task.Publisher's description

Format supported: DVD to DVD, DVD to hard drive, hard drive to DVD, hard drive to hard drive, and burn existing DVD files to recordable DVD-R disc directly. The shrinking engine can fit any DVD video (up to 9.4GB) on to your DVD disc (4.7GB single layer or 8.5GB dual layer) with no loss of content or quality. It preserves all existing DVD contents including menus, trailers, previews, subtitles, full spectrum stereo, and 5.1 surround with DTS or Dolby Digital. This product also provides a preview function, which will display video preview (thumbnails) while backing up your movie. You can adjust the target sizes of your DVD duplicate. It supports a broad range of DVD-R/RW and DVD+R/RW (including double layer) burners.
