In spite of its comprehensive nature, AudioRight Professional is far from perfect. This jack-of-all-trades program offers a CD burner, an audio converter, a recorder, and a ripper but unfortunately doesn't bundle them all in one interface, forcing you to access each function separately. The ripper can transform an audio CD into WAV, MP3, WMA, and OGG files. Though it lets you choose to obtain artist and track information from a number of online databases, none of them worked in our testing. The converter handles the same codecs as the ripper and lets you modify bit rate, channels, frequency, and quality, as well as use the space-efficient VBR compression scheme. The burner and recorder both worked fine in our tests, though the latter doesn't let you set recording levels from directly within the program. However, the trial restrictions are the biggest letdown, limiting you to four file conversions, one minute of recording time, a 10-track CD, and four ripped tracks. We like that AudioRight Professional can wear many hats, but given its issues, we can only give it a half-hearted recommendation.
