Editors' review

The beauty of Diskeeper is its simplicity. All you do is load it and schedule it to launch, and it keeps your computer running quickly without the need to manually defrag. Unfortunately, obtaining the application isn't as simple as using it. You must visit the publisher site, fill out a form, then wait for an e-mail containing the download. The program is tremendously efficient, increasing our test computer's read time by more than 20 percent. One of Diskeeper's best features is the "Set It and Forget It" scheduler that runs the program in the background. For example, you can set it to automatically start when your PC is idling in screensaver mode, or you can schedule it run every day or only on weekends. Another bonus is that Diskeeper keeps your swap file at the front of the disk, which makes information transferring considerably faster. The performance and functionality are superior to similar programs, and the user interface is intuitive. Besides the aforementioned hassles getting the program on our machine, our main complaint concerns the rather short 15-day trial period. Still, since home and professional versions are available from the same installer, Diskeeper is suited to a wide range of users seeking better system performance.

    "Destroyed 2 HDDs in 8 drive RAID6"

    October 16, 2013   |   By ctemby

    Version: Diskeeper 12 Professional 16.0.1010

    Pros

    -Installation was simple
    -Automatic defrag did just that

    Cons

    -Awful user interface
-Automatic defrag increased read/write speed, but then suddenly over a 24 hour period worsened it again
-Resulted in 2 HDDs in 8 drive RAID6 with reading errors, which eventually RAID could not read; HDDs were fine, just data corrupted by Diskeeper
(Diskeeper corrupsted OS years ago when I tested it also, and had to reformat and reinstall)
-Automatic defrag kept running whilst burning a disc, resulting in burn failure/coaster

    Summary

-After 2 trials in the last few years, I have found Diskeeper to corrupt data and cause drive failure, and would not recommend at all
-Instead would recommend Windows 7 or 8 inbuilt disk optimizer, or PerfectDisk if something more is required

"Terrible interface, don't update, switch to perfectdisk"

    March 12, 2013   |   By Standarshy

    Version: Diskeeper 12 Professional 16.0.1010

    Pros

It probably does the job if you don't ever plan on customizing it.

    Cons

Horrible interface. It looks like they were going for a quasi win8 like experience. Howerver, very little planning was put into it. They've removed all the toolbars so instead of getting to what you want logically with 3 or 4 clicks, you need to go through ton of different screens.

I'm not a big fan of win8, mind you, however, I can admit their interface puts this to shame.

    Summary

I was a long time user of this software but now I've switched to perfect disk. I'm a fan of useable interface and always will be. Keep the clutter, at least I have everything visible and accessible.

    Version: Diskeeper 12 Professional 16.0.1010

    Pros

    nothing at all

    Cons

Just consider the following: if the advantages proposed by the software are actually notorious, why were not taken by the windows operating system?

    "Diskeeper go wrong"

    September 10, 2012   |   By dumdumm

    Version: Diskeeper 12 Professional 16.0.1010

    Pros

Looks like an Iobit- if someone enjoy them.
after a trial period with this software from Condusiv Technologies very easy go for Perfect Disk from Raxco

    Cons

Interface is bad. Not easy to understand how to navigate around in this soup.

    Summary

This new Diskeeper version 2012 from Condusiv is a huge
disappointment compared with diskeeper 2011 version, stay with 2011 version, a crystal clear interface and easy to learn. If the company dont change back the interface asap better go for Perfect Disk.

    "Do not upgrade"

    August 02, 2012   |   By FUBARinSFO

    Version: Diskeeper 12 Professional 16.0.1010

    Pros

can use Alt-left and Alt-right cursor arrows to go back/forward in screens visited

    Cons

.. fails to active SMART, and fails all disk and drive information reports
.. doesn't evne report size of drive or free space.
.. GUI appears to actively defeat efforts of Snagit to identify subregions for capture
.. Volume Performance Summary useless -- doesn't even show size of volume, free space
.. GUI doesn't respond to wheel mouse resizing -- fixed size display only
.. can't even see Volume Map without scrolling - Diskeeper 2011 got entire map in 803x568
    .. can't select/copy text from any window
.. Snagit 10 can't capture/read text from any window either
.. appears in All Programs as 'Condusiv Technologies' rather than 'Diskeeper 2012'

    Summary

GUI is huge step backward from 2011.

Not even reporting volume sizes, free space. Inquiry into tech support about inability to access SMART data.

"Perfect Software - Average GUI - Gread Support"

    June 16, 2012   |   By MichaelSan1980

    Version: Diskeeper 12 Professional 16.0.1010

    Pros

+ Does recognize and spare SSD Drives from Defragmenting
    + Intelliwrite REALLY prevents Fragmentation!
+ Noticeable Performance Gains without doing any Setup
+ Nice and fast Support via Online Chat on Workdays
    + Fair Pricing Policies

    Cons

    - Performance Reports for max. 12 Months only
    - GUI is better than Version 11 but still confusing

    Summary

I have used many Defragmenters before. Windows Defrag, O&O, Norton Speed Disk (not availabe anymore for years now) and some others i dont even remember. All of them had one in comon: Either i had to defrag manually, or the automatic defragmentation slowed down my PC. I am Using Diskeeper Since Version 10. Its the first Defragmentation Software i know, wich manages doing defragmentation in the background without having me being aware of it. I have tested the IntelliWrite Feature with other defragmenters. It really does prevent fragmentation. That makes Diskeeper unique in business.

With Version 12, Diskeeper Professional is mainly simplified in terms of buyment options. Now there are only 4 Versions. Home, Professional, Administrator and Server. Administrator only makes sense for those who need to remotely administrate other installations. Also it has also become slightly cheaper. There are Upgrades and so-called Upgrade Assurances, wich can be reneved infinately For example Diskeeper 12 Professional it starts from about 14 USD (10 Euros) per Year. Since there's always a new Version once per Year, you could say, they are being really nice to their customers. There is an Online Email Support and even a live-chat Support on Weekdays. On the live chat i have been helped several times within minutes! Perfect and friendly Support!
