Publisher's Description
From JRTwine Software:
Delete FXP Files is an application that provides you with a GUI method of deleting directories and filenames (that usually result from a publically-available FTP server getting tagged (or "t@gged"). This usually results in various folders and/or files being created that contain reserved identifiers and confuse Windows Explorer, making it difficult to delete them.
The Delete FXP Files application correctly handles situations like that, allowing you to easily remove those directories and files. It has been tested against various naming techniques, including those listed in the "The End Of Deleters" how-to manual, by [Piratez]. The techniques shown in the manual were no match for Delete FXP Files!
Files that have suspect names, such as ones that use reserved system device names, are drawn in Red. Future versions of the application can be extended to recognize other filenames and mark them as suspect, and will implement a whitelist.
This application is capable of crossing network shares and deleting files remotely (if you have the permissions to do so). This allows the application to be used from a centralized "command console".

"demo did not work"
Version: Delete FXP Files 1.2.72
Pros
acceptable GUI
Cons
tried demo; i had some files named [92] and similar. This is exactly what the description says it should be able to delete. The bracket symbol is an illegal symbol for file names. Would not delete.
Summary
Didn't work as advertised.

"Great & does what it intends: axes hard-to-delete files"
Version: Delete FXP Files 1.2.72
Pros
Easy to use--deletes files that just won't go away the normal ways.
The developer now offers more recent pay versions with other options, and a trial version limited to 5 deletes. The version here, while older, is not so limited. Great to keep.Cons
None--if you want more options (folder delete, file renaming, etc.), get one of the pay versions. Otherwise, the older, free version here is great to keep around for those occasional pesky files.
Summary
Also, note: program works just fine on more recent operating systems, up through Windows 7 64-bit--no need to set compatibility mode.

Updated on Sep 7, 2010And an addition/correction: the free version here also deletes folders and their contents, not just individual files.
