The world of Darwinia is a virtual themepark, running inside a computer network built by a computer genius named Dr. Sepulveda. Darwinia is populated by a sentient evolving life-form called the Darwinians. They are the product of a decade's worth of research into genetic algorithms. Unfortunately, the systems of Darwinia have been overrun by an evil red Viral Infection. This Virus has multiplied out of control and must be stopped. Your task is to destroy the Viral Infection and save the Darwinians from extinction. The Darwinians cannot be directly controlled. However you can influence the world by creating Programs such as Squads and Engineers, which you can directly control and use as weapons.
The second demo of Darwinia puts you in charge of rescuing the Darwinians as they are attacked for having created a giant rocket.

This demo gives you a taste of the unique gameplay. Run Programs such as Squads, weapon upgrades, Commanders, and Engineers to guide your video-game sprites across the digital landscape. This second demo for the unique strategy game offers a revamped tutorial and one mission wherein you must power up solar generators to supply a giant rocket, then defeat the evil red Darwinians to take control of the spaceship. It's no surprise this innovative game was nominated for four awards at the Independent Games Festival 2006.

Pros: The retro style of the game mixed with modern ideas leads to an interesting combo. The one mission the demo has is straight foward and isn't too difficult.
Cons: The demo is too short and has no way to change the difficulty. Also, it gets old after a few minutes of game play. The consept is good but it just isn't something I would recomend buying unless you really love the demo.

Pros: Very unique and addictive. I got the full version, kept me busy for a loooong time.
Cons: I got an error for it too, it had to do something with the rendering, the site tells you to just add a line to one of the files to make it work.

"Windows error when trying to launch"
Pros: Unable to test
Cons: Installed the program, tried to run it, and got a Windows error. This was on an HP Pavilion DV4000 laptop.
