This free Firefox extension promises to let you chat with users who are visiting the same Web site, but we found ourselves alone most of the time.
Dai.sy installs an icon on your Firefox toolbar. Clicking on it reveals a sidebar on the left side of your browser window. There's no Help menu, but the interface is easy to operate. There are three tabs, one for meeting other users, one for sharing files, and one for blogging. While chatting, you can add links or videos. When we clicked on the Meet tab, we entered a nickname, picked from a list of cartoon-like avatars, and typed a brief message. This was all while we were visiting a popular Web site. We didn't get any response. We checked the Blog tab, and we couldn't find any current blogs. We browsed a few other popular Web sites and had the same outcome.
Dai.sy just doesn't have a big enough community yet to qualify as a good networking program. It works, but you'll mostly be talking to yourself, which you can do without this free application.
