CNET Editors' review
DVD PixPlay from Xequte Software combines a DVD burning utility and a slideshow maker in one easy-to-use tool. With it, users can create personalized photo or video slideshows, save them, and burn them on DVD blanks or watch them on a PC or other display. The disks it creates are compatible with nearly every DVD player, so you can send them to family and friends as personal keepsakes. It can also convert your slideshows into Web-compatible videos for uploading on sites like YouTube.
The program's polite Windows-style installer notes that you need some 25 MB of free disk space to use DVD PixPlay; you'll also need a DVD-burning drive. There's a helpful, optional Tool Tip and some nag screens, but mostly it's not only easy but also quite pleasant to use. The main and control dialogs are attractive and well laid out, with clear commands and one-click functionality. There's a fully indexed and searchable Help file, something we always welcome. We added images and videos, uploaded music files for soundtracks, added effects, and saved the results, all with a few quick clicks. We especially like the Current Frame subdisplay with Image Motion and Transition settings, which helps keep things in order.
DVD PixPlay's free trial period has been extended from 45 to 90 days. It's fully compatible with Windows 7. While it's true that most new PCs come bundled with apps that you can probably use to do what DVD PixPlay does, it has the advantage of being a ready-made, easy-to-use solution that can save tons of time on keepsake projects.

I cant believe this stuff really works.

Cons
Slide show effects should put more.

"Excellent value and so easy to use."
Version: DVD PixPlay 2.67
Pros
So easy to use. I bought my non-"pc enabled" parents a $35 dvd player and I'm now using this to make dvds to show them my photos. It's saved me a fortune in printing costs (plus I don't have to visit as often as I can just pop the dvd in the post! - Only kidding ma!)
Cons
Nothing yet.

"This is the best still picture VCD creator package"
Version: DVD PixPlay 2.0
Pros
I put this product up against many other software packages and compared the results: This package beat the rest hands down!
Firstly it's fast at encoding - which beats Intervideo's WinDVD which is incredibly slow.
Secondly the quality of the finished VCD does not have noise on it unlike Arcsoft's Showbiz, Intervideo's Win DVD and Sonic's MyDVD.
Thirdly the image quality is sharp and not blurry unlike Pinnacle's Studio 8.
Fourthly the user interface is very easy to use and is extremely intuitive - Sonic take note of how easy it could have been and MemoriestoTV should start again from scratch.
Fifthly you are not hindered by the number of images that you can put on the disk - Sonic MyDVD only allows 99 and so does Ahead's Nero burner.
I would thoroughly recommend this package to anyone wanting to turn a slide show into a VCD or SVCD at high quality.
Cons
The only down side I have of this package is the colour. If you compare it to Studio 8, Win DVD and MyDVD then you will not notice any difference. However, if you compare the colour to Showbiz then you will note that there is a richness in the colour that Showbiz has that DVD PixPlay does not. Given that Showbiz suffers from terrible noise problems, I consider this to be negligble.
