    "DO NOT install this malware!!!"

    February 4, 2012  |   By munchymuncher

Version: DFX Audio Enhancer for Windows Media Player 9.304

    Pros

None, zero, zip, nadda, dim, aucun, khong ai, nijedan, lngen, geen, wala, keiner, egyik sem, nessuno, nenhum, zaden, ninguno, nici unul... __n o t h i n g__

    Cons

This plugin is required for Windows Media Player to play videos with sound at a normal, audible level. In Windows 7 the EQ function has been removed and max volume reduced so you will download and buy this plugin just to hear a video. When you install DFX, it puts an ugly interface on your desktop that will not go away. It constantly interrupts your viewing experience to bully you into paying for the simple function of playing sound at an audible volume when watching videos. The functions of this plugin are cryptic and useless. The "free" version is limited to half the normal capabilities of any standard, free video player program unless you pay for it.

    Summary

Do not install this plugin, it is nagware with no usable functionality. I consider it to be malware, and more annoying than most viruses I have experienced.

It will nag you with a pop up telling you to purchase the pro version every few minutes, forcing you to click okay to close the nagging dialog box, then clicking the non-integrated plugin interface just to force it into the background because it can't be minimized unless you pay, then you have to select the Windows Media Player window again in order to bring your video to the foreground, then click the button to make your video play full screen again, then you finally get back to your video for a few minutes before the nag dialog pops up again making you repeat the process all over. I watched one movie and had to stop it nine times in order to get rid of the nag box. Best of all, you have to download another program just to uninstall this pos software. This plugin has ruined my movie watching experience, and made me so angry that my day was ruined as well. I am going to distribute as many copies as I can of pirated Microsoft programs as my own little personal revenge for making me go through that experience.

Do yourself a favor and download VLC, Media Player Classic, or any other video player. Better yet, just get rid of Windows and install Linux Mint for a free and much better computing experience. Printing out each frame of a movie and making a flip book would be easier and provide a better viewing experience than the one I had.

    "DFX Audio Enhancer review"

    December 31, 2011  |   By glssldy57

Version: DFX Audio Enhancer for Windows Media Player 9.304

    Pros

It seems to work as well as it did before the update, but I don't listen to that much music on the computer... Sorry I'm not much help!

    Cons

    None noticed yet...

    Summary

I'll have to listen to more music on my pc before I can give an honest opinion, so sorry that I don't have more info for the masses yet. Also I really haven't figured out how to do much with it, so I need a little advice myself! ;-)

"beware , do NOT put this crap on your computer !!"

    December 28, 2011  |   By sharp8

Version: DFX Audio Enhancer for Windows Media Player 9.304

    Pros

    none , absolutely none !

    Cons

It loads a big player that takes over your display ( and that's the good part ). It does very little to nothing to actually improve the sound of your system . This is one of those programs that you have to go back 2 days to uninstall . My AVG found malicious parts of this program that it couldn't uninstall ( it set-up a loop that ran all night ) ! I researched it ( after the fact unfortunately ), now if I want to remove it I have to do a system restore just to get all the spywear off , thanks !

    Summary

    Don't download this program !

    Pros

I do not even want to check something, that is false advertised! If they lied to me once, what is the reason expect them to be honest?

    Cons

    No pay no play...terrible!!!

    "Improvement is disingenuous"

    August 4, 2011  |   By suprtomatobxb

Version: DFX Audio Enhancer for Windows Media Player 9.301

    Pros

It appears to improve sound quality. Yes, if you turn it off, you wonder how you ever listened to music before without it.

    Cons

But, it didn't really sound that bad before!!! They make your music sound worse than it really is. Try this, turn the features off. While playing music, uninstall the program. Then it sounds good again. This is obviously not a mistake.

    Summary

Should I really pay a company for a product that I don't think is being honest with me?

"Absolute garbage. I own the Plus version."

    May 29, 2011  |   By SoftwareTestPilot

Version: DFX Audio Enhancer for Windows Media Player 9.301

    Pros

    none what so ever.

    Cons

I downloaded the plus version to use with Windows 7 64-bit. Windows Media Player actually has a decent amplifier and equalizer, but they made it almost impossible to find. I downloaded this software and actually paid for the premium Plus version.

    Summary

It sound absolutely horrendous with my high end Sennheiser headphones. The sound crackles when any of the features like Fidelity, Ambience, 3D Surround, Dynamic Boost and Hyperbass are moved past the 1 slots. Are you idiots at DFX serious? ***? I tried this on 3 family members' computers and two friends. Every time the sound was so distorted and crackling, I had to uninstall. I tried everything to make sure it wasn't something I was doing wrong. Do NOT pay for this pile of sh*t.

Version: DFX Audio Enhancer for Windows Media Player 9.301

    Pros

This unit even in it's lite free form is very helpful for those who need amplification of their Window Media Player

    Cons

Limited control in the lite form. There is much more control when one buys the full unit....

    Summary

Excellent volume booster for Windows Media Player...lite form
Excellent volume booster and special effects with full form for WMP

"Doesn't work anywhere as well as SRS HD Audio Lab"

    February 1, 2011  |   By rskenderian

Version: DFX Audio Enhancer for Windows Media Player 9.301

    Pros

Slight improvement in sound. That's all.

    Cons

You have to buy one for each player.Sound improvement is mediocre. SRS HD Audio Lab works with any sound from any source, so you only need to buy one.

    Summary

Buy SRS HD Audio Labs instead, which has many more settings, like Video, Music, or Game settings, and also has Headphone, Laptop, and Speaker (2.0, 2.1, 5.1, and 7.1) settings. SRS also has advanced controls - SRS 3D Space, SRS 3D Center, SRS True Bass, Speaker Size for bass, SRS Focus, SRS Definition, and a Limiter. ALSO ... the 30-day trial is fully functional, so you know exactly what you're buying. Yes, it costs more - but it works with ANY sound from ANY source ... and you do really get what you pay for. Guaranteed; if you use SRS HD Audio Lab, you won't want to listen to anything without it. I don't.
