At first glance, Crimsonland seems stuck in the past. There's an overhead 2D view in a finite playing area with monsters attacking from all sides. However, the furious action and a multitude of power-ups make it an enjoyable shooter for fans of old-school arcade games.Three modes of gameplay offer differing goals, from basic survival to point accumulation. Game controls take a bit to get used to (instead of moving in all four directions, the character turns left and right and moves forward or backward), but are actually fairly intuitive. Moving and aiming are independent, so a keyboard-mouse combination works best, though it gets tricky to squeeze in a second gamer for cooperative multiplayer action.
Aside from a few scattered complaints (it's too easy to get lost behind the scoreboard; the shotgun is far superior to other weapons of the same experience level; music and sound are mostly useless), Crimsonland is quick to pick up and quite addictive to play. Just remember two commandments: grab the shotgun early, and always (as if we have to tell you) go for the nuke.

Version: Crimsonland 1.98
Pros: Neat graphics, cool sounds.
Cons: The game was confusing and didnt make much sense. I also had tonnes of trouble getting the key code after I paid for it.
Definitely not worth the trouble.

Summary: Wow, this game is completely worth it. I've paid way more on many games that are'nt nearly as fun as this game. Its a fairly simple game based on a simple premise, "kill everything that moves". Great fun. I have yet to grow tired of playing this... read more >>
