Despite a slightly annoying installation process, version X2 (read: 12) of Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo continues to offer the same high performance and full feature set of earlier editions. The digital image-editing program will fit the needs of many photographers and designers.
A well-designed and intuitive interface offers easy access to all of your digital images, and the individual components--such as tool selectors, palettes, and layer windows--can be dragged and dropped anywhere on the screen. Excellent one-click photo adjustments such as Smart Photo Fix or One Step Noise Removal will be godsends for photographers with busy schedules.
One of the most noticeable updates in X2 is the new graphite workspace theme, which gives the app a slick, 21st century look. A tabbed interface makes switching between photos a breeze, and the library organizer is available as either a palette tool or another tab in the image browser.
The organizer is one of the strongest features of Paint Shop Pro Photo, and a new Express Lab feature makes batch editing even easier. We did notice a CPU slowdown when using the organizer with large libraries, but otherwise the application was quite stable, even when editing very large BMP files. A new Learning Center provides contextual help for specific features, but we found searching the regular help topics to be more informative.
The installation is the most disappointing part of the trial. It requires registering for a free Corel account, which in turn requires a valid e-mail address. Adobe uses the same practice, but it's an annoying trend. You should also note that within the "Advanced" installation setting, Paint Shop Pro Photo is automatically set to become the default application for all your major image-file formats.
Once you get Paint Shop Pro Photo X2 installed and working on your machine, you'll find a very powerful photo editor and organizer that is quite easy to learn and use. A full 30-day trial gives you plenty of time to determine whether or not you'd like the full version.

This photo-editing software is almost as good as Adobe PhotoShop. But it's cheaper, and, eventhough it's difficult, way more easy to learn and use than PhotoShop. Being complicated of PhotoShop made me step over to Corel PaintShop Pro X2.

If there are really easy pieces of software to realize many photo-editing features, then I don't know them. Even PaintShop Pro is a bit complicated, so I understand why people give it a bad rating. I, as having a bit of experience with photoshop, call this an exellent photo-editing program. It brings more features than I'll ever need. So no lack of features.

When I installed the program my computer locked up. I couldn't print anything from WORD, EXCEL, nothing. I even bought a new computer and got the same result. I've had an IT person look at this, and still can't get it fixed.

Downloaded the trial version, liked it so I purchased it. When I tried printing a spread sheet from Excel I couldn't. I finally uninstalled the free trial version and had to uninstall and re install my printer. I paid extra for next day shipping, did not receive the next day or the next day! I installed the purchased software and the same thing, could not print. Bought a new computer thinking maybe mine didn't have enough memory, same problem. It's like Corel is corrupting my computer. I've checked all the requirements, memory, RAM, etc and have met all. I would not recommend this program at all. Of course I've wasted too much time trying to get it to work that now my 30 day return policy has expired. So I'm stuck with a $100 "disc" that is useless to me. Has any one else had this problem and if so how (if) did you correct it?

Excellent upgrade, it's finally worth me putting Paint Shop Pro 7 aside !
Just don't pay the full amount. Corel's website's prices vary more than Dell's... and there are plenty of vouchers available, so you can normally pick this up for about $40 (for the electronic download).
