Google, Microsoft, and Yahoo aren't the only ones bringing more search power to consumer desktops. Copernic's Desktop Search tool makes it fast and easy to find documents, e-mails, and other files on local drives. Like other desktop search tools, it creates a searchable index of all the data on a computer's drives, and updates it every time a file is added, removed, or modified.
A left-side search column allows simple keyword queries and more refined searches based on file size, date, file type, or folder. Easy-to-read icons at the top of the screen let you limit searches by category, such as stored HTML pages, e-mail, and videos. The program is lightning-quick, displaying results as fast as you can type.
We especially like the Copernic Deskbar, a search window that appears in the Windows Taskbar and makes quick queries very handy. However, we would like an image viewer, and we wish the application's PowerPoint viewer could display graphics. Copernic comes with optional search toolbars for Internet Explorer and Firefox.
Overall, Copernic offers an efficient way to search your PC, especially for multiple or large hard drives.

"One of our key corporate tools"
Pros: Have been using it for months and it has found "lost" documents reliably on many occasions. It does it's own thing without trying to load companion projects, gadet the hell of your desktop. Fast, unobtrusive ...lovely. One of those free software packages that everyone should have. It's background service works flawlessly.
Cons: No. You've got me there. Er... It can't index things that have no text even in the title to grab hold of?? If you switch on high priority indexing it can slow down your machine (duh!) I'm barrel scraping on both of those including the self inflicted second one ...but I guess you could tell that.

"King of "All" Desktop search softwares"
Pros: Pros: Using since 2004. Tested all similiar softwares but none could match this. i Have lot of *.mht files saved on my PC, none of other software are capable of searching a word in .mht file whether with copernic u can do this. It is true that most file extension have tobe added manualy but where it makes difference.
I only to say finaly This can do what others heavy weight software can't.
And more developers support is fantastic despite of a freeware coz whenever i sent them query/suggestion i immediatly got the response from them.

"Greate Tool, but not the best."
Pros: Greate search tool, better than Google Desktop Search!!
Cons: Very slow to index on my computer, takes too many resource, and many features are not useful for me. I just search files only. Not a smart tool. Ava Find and Instant File Find are more suitable for those who search files only.

"Beats Google and Vista Search Products, at least for my use"
Pros: After Vista indexing stopped indexing and Microsofts answer was to reinstall Windows Vista, I tried google desktop but it would get to 48% and get stuck on its 1st index build. This product indexed within 10 minutes and is much more customizable as far as groups of files, etc. RECOMMEND to anyone as a primary desktop search.
