"Works fine"
Version: Connectix Virtual PC 7.0.3
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I installed the 7.0.3 update with no problems at all. Only required a minute or two to install the upgrade.
I've used Virtual PC off and on for a few years to run Visio. I've used it on a G4, but for the past few years I use it on my G5.
Visio's a pretty heavy duty program and I've never had a problem running it with Virtual PC. Sure it's a little slow, but not enough to frustrate the average person. It takes 12 seconds for me to start Virtual PC (I timed it today). Thats much faster than I could boot a PC. It starts this fast because you can save the state of your "PC" when you shut-down and avoid the boot process.
I have a Macbook now (Dual Core) and could use bootcamp on it, but why take up the space on the HD for just one application when Virtual PC works fine on the G5.

"VFPC-Very Flacky PC"
Version: Connectix Virtual PC 7.0.3
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
Have an iMac PC G5 with 2.1GHz and 1.5GB RAM. Bought and installed VPC-7 with Windoze XP. Took 4hours to install. No problem installing VPC. Problem was with XP. Once installed I had to download 78 UPDATES! Next. Installed a 30 trial of Kasparsky Virus Protection. That took 3 hours from Install button was clicked on and finally got it working. Please note: I followed the recommended ways to increase the VPC performance, like running in Classic mode etc. All I have been doing is clicking and waiting. It took 3 minutes after clicking on FireFox before it launched. I use the small "windowed" mode. It's tough using this because there is no real communication going on between the me and the VPC. When you click on something to activate it, it should give you an hour glass. Well, mine will come and go. Finally analysis: This is a very flaky. BUT, it does work if you are willing to be more patient. For me, I'm losing my marbles. -

"Impossible to install on 10.4.6"
Version: Connectix Virtual PC 7.0.2
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I have the latest version of Virtual PC and am running 10.4.6 and have found it impossible to install. After the reboot the installer insists you must log in as the administrator even when you are already logged in as the administrator. There is no way to bypass this because your only option available to is to select "Quit". A complete waste of money. -
"Minor inconvenience"
Version: Connectix Virtual PC 7.0.2
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
The 7.0.2 update breaks prior versions of Virtual PC and they will not run under OS X. They will run under OS 9 though, if you still have that one (I have one program that won't run in VPC 7 but runs great in VPC 5).
The other issue is that you cannot use iCooked with VPC (it causes kernel panics).
Other than those two issues, VPC has been a wonderful piece of software for me. It's the 800 pound gorilla of Windows emulators and it doesn't seem to be stepping down anytime soon. -
"Just too slow for my Mac"
Version: Connectix Virtual PC 7.0.2
Summary

Now that VNC can be used to display the Windows' windows on my Mac display, I never use this product recently.
It is just too slow for my PowerBook G4. -
"works for me..."
Version: Connectix Virtual PC 7.0.2
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I use Virtual PC to run various mapping/GPS software including Garmin's MAPSOURCE. This requires I use a USB/PDA adapter.
Every is stable and is working smoothly with this upgrade.
VPC has been one of the best investments I've ever made as far as software.
No need to buy a PC here.
yes it can be slow sometimes. But it's emulation software. Just comes with the territory so it's not biggy. Gets the job done and that's what I'm all about.

"Works Great"
Version: Connectix Virtual PC 7.0.2
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
Version 7.0.2 has finally allowed me to install Windows XP on my 700 MHz G4 (running 10.4.2) without any problems. Contrary to other reviewers, I have not experienced any system problems with this update, and Virtual Switch functions perfectly.
