Publisher's Description
From sUBs:
Combofix was designed to scan a computer for known malware, spyware (SurfSideKick, QooLogic, and Look2Me as well as any other combination of the mentioned spyware applications) and remove them. ComboFix allows the manual removal of spyware infections. It's a specialized effective cleaning tool, which is useful compared to other malware and spyware removers. After Combofix finished, a report will be created. You can use this report to search and remove infections which are not automatically removed.

"Works Great!"
Version: Combofix 1.0.0
Pros
Fixes the Chrome cert problem!
Cons
Acts strangely
Summary
Like Fast_Eddie, I downloaded it here because I trust Cnet. When Combofix starts, it says to turn off anti-virus programs. I had none running, although it detected AVG (I think AVG left something behind when I uninstalled it), so it gave me a few warnings in the beginning accompanied by loud, high-pitched beeps and kind of weird messages about AVG running. This worried me, so I checked the user reviews and saw Fast Eddie's post. I noticed, however, that he based his concerns on what his anti-virus software was telling him. I also noticed that his was the only negative review other than those that said it didn't run on Win 7, which it also says right from the beginning when it runs.
So, I decided to let it go and chance the consequences. This was the right decision. It deleted two programs that had piggybacked on something else I had downloaded last week and thought I had uninstalled. And after Combofix had finished, I stopped getting the Chrome cert problem. (Chrome had been complaining about a certificate violation when I tried to access Facebook. Many others have had this problem but finally yesterday someone recommended running Combofix.) -
"SECONDS WARNING *VIRUS ALERT*"
Version: Combofix 1.0.0
Pros
Please read the CONS about a virus warning.
Cons
Willing to try new software and test it, I heard about this program on several forums so I figured hey why not. I got to CNet because I trust CNet. Read about it, downloaded the CNet download-er and then go to install. All the way through McAfee picks up a Trojan and quarantines it. I tried a couple more times and still, it's a Trojan. The warning that comes up states a Artemis virus embedded in the Combo-fix file that my computer tries to download when I click the "Direct Download Link" on this page. Stay away from downloading this file. I don't know how it slipped past CNet's scanning, but this is NOT virus free. Even when I turned my Anti-virus off, downloaded it, then turned it back on, it picked it up right away and quarantined it again.

"Miracle Worker for nasty malware Sirefef.ac"
Version: Combofix 1.0.0
Pros
Easy to install but the best thing is that it actually worked. Nothing else did - Microsoft Security Essentials, Kaspersky TDSSKiller (though reviews say to use that), Microsoft's Standalone System Sweeper offline reboot, looking into the Registry for known malware files... They all found some of the malware but didn't stop it from reappearing with each new reboot. I spent 18 hours with this nasty bugger until I tried Combofix. It completely restored my computer to perfect running condition.
Cons
None that I experienced. It took longer than the 10 minutes minimum; it took about 30 minutes, but it does say that a severely infected workstation can take considerably longer than the 10 minute minimum. So just plan your time.
Summary
This is a good program and the developer deserves kudos. It really gets at the root and finds the problems, and fixes it. Just make sure you are patient when using it, and follow instructions as you will be asked now and then to hit "okay" or whatever. It performed a miracle where all others failed on the most nasty malware I've ever experienced.

"Would not install on my Win7 Pro 64bit computer."
Version: Combofix 1.0.0
Pros
From my little experience I had no pro's.
Cons
Then I went to Combofix site directly to see if they had a newer version...they did. I downloaded the latest version for my machine and had a virus/malware after the reboot! "Restore" didn't work (?) Fortunately I have Home Server 2011 and had a full backup of my computer from the previous night before download and was able to come back to normal.

"remove browser hijack redirect "infosmash.com""
Version: Combofix 1.0.0
Pros
Only tool that worked (over 10 others) to remove browser hijack redirect "infosmash.com". Your are not supposed to run this until advised to be a helper on bleepingcomputer.com. I saw someone else have the same issue, so I used this, But followed the directions. You need to stop all other virus software on PC, )m (disconnect from any internet of course, diasbled wireless network adpater), installed pgm on desktop. It takes a while to run, dont interrupt. Then I rebooted and needed to rerun the pgm a 2nd time, then all redirects where gone!!! Go to bleepingcomputer.com. Before I found this fix I was going to rebuild the whole disk drive from install disks.
Cons
Non, I have no cons at all.......
Summary
RECOMMEND YOU DONWLOAD PGM FROM BLEEPINGCOMPUTER.COM VS CNTE TO GET THE LATEST PGM
