"Big fan of all Collectorz software!"
Version: Collectorz.com Music Collector 9.3.1
Pros
robust, user friendly and slick. combined music and mp3 collector into one that inventories all of the music you own or want to own. regular updates and an active user base with forum.
Cons
none that I can think of.
Summary
Bottom line is that I love the software and would also recommend their Book Collector, Comic Collector, Game Collector and Movie Collector software.

"A good software have been a bad one"
Version: Collectorz.com Music Collector 9.1.7
Pros
This software is very good if you not use Sample CD:s (various artists)
Easy to use and have all you could need for making a good useful collection.Cons
Since version 9.1, it's not possible to collect sample CD:s in an easy way. You have to edit every single track. The company is not interested to change back to an easy working version.
Summary
If you start from scratch, a better choise is OrangeCD, one time fee and have the best interface of all music collection software (try it, you will not regret that).

"Great Program to Organize UR Music"
Version: Collectorz.com Music Collector 9.1.5
Pros
It's rather easy to use even for a non-computer geek like me (my hubby is a computer geek/engineer). Using a scanner makes it so much easier and if it doesn't recognize the barcode then it can scan the CD itself to obtain the information.
Cons
When you scan a CD barcode and conduct a search, you must click back onto the barcode box to scan another CD. Otherwise, it re-inputs the previous CD's barcode information into the search queue.
Summary
Quick and easy. I would recommend this to anyone who has a large music collection.

Pros
I have tried other music collection software, but this one is easy and simple to use. I am able to lay it out in a way that appeals to me.
Cons
Search does not always bring up the cover photo.

"CDs ONLY; No MP3/FLAC/AAC/etc Files"
Version: Collectorz.com Music Collector 8.6.1
Pros
Nice intuitive interface, no steep learning curve
Cons
It only works with cds. No FLAC/mp3/AAC. I'm sorry, but in 2009 having a music cataloging program that cannot handle music files is like having a program that is only distributed on 1.44" floppies: bloody useless for today's world.
Summary
For some reason, collectorz has two mutually exclusive programs for cataloguing music: mp3 colletor ($40) and music collector ($40). Now maybe some people want to keep their cds and music files separate, but I think most people just want one library with all their music in it. And even if you want your cds and music files separate, I doubt you'll want to buy two $40 programs.
There are other options that handle cds AND music files just fine, and don't require you to buy two separate, incompatible programs. I really have to question the intelligence of whoever is running that company. They really should rename this program CD ONLY Collector. Fail. -
"Efficiently works"
Version: Collectorz.com Music Collector 8.4.2
Pros
It was easy to install and easy to 'jump right in' to start cataloging.
I specifically needed it to be able to find tracks of a certain length to us for family photo slideshows. It's perfect.
It also doesn't eat a great deal of memory.Cons
I'd really love if it were smart enough to take an artist name 'Paul McCartney' and convert it to McCartney, Paul. However, this is minor and I've never found any software that does that, and, I've been through many.
Summary
If you have a large music collection and would like a way to catalog and inventory them all, then, this is what you need.
I've only used it off and on for about 2 weeks and only had time enough to input 150, but, it's been a godsend. Cataloging my CD's has been on my 'To Do' list for quite a while, but, the task looked daunting. I'd tried a spreadsheet and my own database and given up. Now, I might actually be able to check it off my list in the near future.
You can add CD's by scanning with a bar code scanner, scanning with your CD drive, typing in the bar code, or, simply by searching the various databases by artist and/or title. Personally, because I type rapidly, I try by artist and title first, then, by typing the bar code, and, if those don't give me the detail I want, I use the CD in the drive and scan.
The software's online database is extensive and contains most of the CD's I've input so far. You'll have to customize the data to your liking once it's downloaded, but, it sure beats the snot out of having to input every CD title, track name, track length, genre, label, etc.
For example, last night I did 30 in an hour and a half. Most of that time was spent inputting all the data on two CD's that I purchased direct from an artist at a home show. There was no bar code because he produced them himself. However, if they're normal CD's it takes between 2-5 minutes per CD, as it's dependent on how much detail you want to customize. As I said in the 'cons', I like my CD's last name first, so, some customization on each CD is necessary for me.
As far as support goes, the company appears very responsive and answers questions, along with users, in its forum. I asked a few prior to downloading the trial and they were answered within a few hours; sometimes minutes.
I downloaded the Readerware trial, as well, and found Music Collector to be far superior. Of course, it is more expensive than Readerware. Then again, the adage, "You get what you pay for" comes to mind. -
"Great product, greatly simplifies creating a database of your CDs"
Version: Collectorz.com Music Collector 8.0.3
Pros
Just pop the CD into the drive, click on a few buttons and all the date from the CD(artist, album title, song names and length, release year, etc) is entered. Great sort and search functions. Data can be exported to Excel-friendly format (csv) and printed. Quick, easy way to make a database of your CD collection. A must for big CD collections or when you just want to be able to find the music that is in your collection. My favorite features: sort by artist or search for songs you might not have otherwise known you had.
Cons
In general, the GUI is very well laid out and simple to use. Sometimes though, I find myself hunting around the various icons trying to find out how to display the info a certain way. I have only been using this for a week or so on 90 CDs so I probably just need more time with it.

"One of the best in its sort."
Version: Collectorz.com Music Collector 6.11.2
Pros
Find all your cd's and lp-information in a few seconds when online. Stores a lot of information of your records.
Cons
There's nothing to organize about the artists. A pity, cause I like to label on country of origin and ev en place of origin.

"Best software ever"
Version: Collectorz.com Music Collector 6.11.2

The only music database that works without a manual. Everything is well prepared to work with.
Cons
Absolutely none
